I really really wish Tommy was doing this game.  He looooves Eddie F. Rush.  "Awwww that is a terrible call Eddie.  Just go home Eddie, do us all a favor and go home!"
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

edit - unnecessary.  Stay away from personal attacks. wdleehi

Wasn't a personal attack. Was merely a commentary on the nature of the "NBA is out to get us with bad refereeing" mentality.  No insult intended for the OP.

i have no reason to believe that this crew hates the lakers lakers fan is probably telling the truth but i also know they hate the celtics. I dont trust this crew. This is the type of game where both teams are going to get rotten calls and both coaches and players will be complaining all night

Boston is 3-1 in the playoffs with Ed F. Rush and now he does a 5th Celtics game already in the playoffs?  Unheard of.

Boston is 2-1 in the playoffs with Bavetta and 1-1 with Foster.

Meanwhile, of the Lakers three playoff losses, two featured Ed F. Rush (and I can bet what the F stands for) including an infamous Game 4 in Utah that went into OT despite Utah having a 45-25 FT attempt advantage.

The other playoff loss saw Dick Bavetta on the court.

These officiating assignments were no accident and the statistical trend would be clearly in the Celtics favor with this crew, obviously.

Why the excuses before the game?

Are you that nervous?

I'd just like to point out how hilarious it is that Lakers fans are already coming up with excuses for why their team is going to lose and the game is still 11 hours away.

Maybe you should start coming up with excuses now too for why the Celtics are going to win the championship while you're at it. Here's a hint: it's not going to be because of the officials, buddy.

And finally, this has been the longest 6 days ever. 9PM cannot possibly arrive fast enough!

LET'S GO CELTICS!!

Not at all.  Just pointing out that it is blatantly obvious what the NBA's objective is tonight.  They know a Laker Game 1 win will take the wind out of the sails of the Eastern Viewing audience.

So they are going to do everything possible to get Boston the win tonight, including assigning Ed F. Rush for the 5th time to a Boston game in this post-season.

And I'm sure when Bennett Salvatore and Eddie Mauer ref a game, you'll be running right to your computer to talk aobut how the league wants the Lakers to win that one, right?   ::)

At least it isn't Bennett Salvatore.  That guy is either crooked or terribly inept.

Half-full ... you're right, it could be a lot worse! Like say, Bennett Salvatore, Kenny Mauer, and Violet Palmer ... that would be the worst!

Exactly my thoughts. Keep those guys away, especially Salvatore and Maue(they're not only absolutely incompetent, but they also have a deep anti-Celtics bias, while Palmer is just plainly incompetent), and I can live with everyone else.

Btw, I have to agree that Lakers fans nervousism and annoyance is quite impressive, considering their team is so dominant in everything.

Yeah, really! (TP) You nailed it ... they've come on here today to make excuses before it even starts ... "Well, if the C's win game one, it's because the refs want them to win" ... wow, what a sad, sorry, bunch of crap that is! If only they'd clean their gold-colored glasses off they'd see how incredibly anti-Celtic the officials have been all year ... why the heck would they change now?

The media, NBA, majority public, and the refs, have been stroking their "Golden Boy" Kobe and the Lakers for a Championship most of the year, and if the C's win, it will be because they beat a (on the floor) team of eight, not five. These excuses are truly lame ... too bad they don't realize how off-base they are, and how foolish they look! I actually enjoyed the first few Laker fans we had, but it's just getting absurd now.

If only you'd clean your green glasses off, you'd see how absurd this claim is.

How do you explain the gifts the refs have given the lakers (the LA-SAC series, the LA-MINN series, the LA-PORT series were all screw jobs in your favor. That's not even including the no call in the spurs series this year which the nba admitted was wrong because it was so blatant but oh well, the game is over and that's that. What so-called favoritism have the celtics gotten? Give us some examples. Or are you still just bitter that the Pistons beat you guys last time you made it to the finals. The pistons won because the played team bball and the lakers were feuding with each other.

I'm guessing you also believe in the shooter in the grassy knoll, aliens living among us, that our own government drove the planes into the WTC on 9/11 and that the moon landing was a complete fake.

The league has never given a rat's behind who wins any one game or playoff series. They wish certain matchups would occur for the sake of business, but they do not put the fix in to extend series or determine the outcome of games.

They whole idea is ludicious!

If that was the case Greg Oden would have ended up in Boston or New York and not a west coast small market team.

The officiating in the league is horrible and it's possible that Tin Donaghy isn't the only bad apple, but the league does not sponsor in any way the predetermination of its contests.

This isn't wrestling!!

yea, the nba doesn't care who wins this one belive me, either way thier $$$ storyline is set.

Celtics win : OMG KG WON!!!!!!! REDEMPTION!!!!

Lakers Win: KOBE IS BETTER THAN MJ!!!!! THE LEGEND GROWS!!!!

the refs are going to screw both teams because 90% of the nba ref pool is incompetent and grandfathered into thier jobs, not because the nba is fixing games.

Thats one thing both boston fans and la fans can agree on, the reffing in the NBA= atrocious.

I agree with you there.

Clearly, the best players in the world, they are incredible.

The officials?  Errr, not so much.

I would like to see every single one fired and have them start over from scratch with the best college and international refs they can find.

Also, put term limits and age limits on these guys.  How can a geriatric like Dick Bavetta be expected to run up and down the floor with guys 1/3 his age in the biggest game of the season to date?

No reason for anyone to officiate more than 10 years in the league, it leads to personal bias and issues like we have seen with guys like Javie, Joey Crawford, former ref Jake O'Donnell, etc.

Nothing puts a smile on my face faster then a Laker fan already whining about the game 1 outcome before it has occurred. Is Kobe Whining a contagious disease that has spread throughout Laker Land? This reminds me of the Yankee trolls who show up on Sox boards whining about our team.

For Celtics Fans, I do not think there is such a thing as dream ref assignments- The one dream thing I do know..is we are in the Finals and we are winning the finals..I do not care who the refs are. We have won games with a ton of fouls called against us anyway.

On a side note, one of my Laker friends has already pointed out to me how our team is filled with old geezers who stand no chance of winning any games..and Gasol, he said, will dominate KG..now that is twice as funny as the whining.

Bring it on...Go Celtics!!
