His final line
2.1 Innings
1 hit
4 walks
2 earned runs
3 strikeouts
62 pitches

2.1 Innings. Why was this one of the biggest stories of the past few days? 2.1 Innings, 2.1 INNINGS!!

I laughed out loud when I just read the boxscore online.

I don't know why but this cracks me up

Don't forget the balk in the first inning.  I'm sure this kid is going to be great but tonight was a dud.  Both as far as his performance and living up to the media hype.  I'm already sick of this kid and his fist pumps and what not.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

He only probably pitched 2.1 innings because I heard something about the Yankees only limiting him to about 60 pitches or something like that. I don't know why it was such an anticipated debut, though.

I kinda like the kid, since I really like pitchers that get really pumped up out there (Beckett, Papelbon), but I love his failure especially after all the arm twisting Hank did... just for making him look bad, I loved this guy's failure.

With that said, I think they're going about the wrong way in getting this young guy ready... I hope they don't ruin this kid's life (in an individual level), but at the same time, can't have the Yankees have anything good going for them. Let them stink up the bottom of the AL East for a while longer.

Yep, the plan originally was 65-70, and I believe he was pulled after 62 (oddly enough, his uniform number).  I think the expectation in the Yankee camps was about four innings, but the 38-pitch first derailed that plan.

It was "Super Tuesday" in New York...all the talk radio all day was centered on Joba and Pedro heading to the hill...

Sorry ... I just don't get into anything having to do with the Yankees ... I try personally not to waste much breath or mental activity in that direction.
