I think we have seen the last of our friend Tony Allen in a Green and White uni. But if he goes out with a bang and a ring, I think he'll be o'kay with that.
Why are you so anti-Tony? I understand people are sometimes frustrated with some players, don't like them, etc... but there are 100 your posts about how you want TA to go. God...
I don't think he is that good of a player. Sometimes hometown fans way, way overvalue a player and what his real worth is. I think on the Celtics Tony Allen is the epitome of this example.
He is just not that good. Sorry. There. I said it and meant it. He just isn't that good and I'm not the only one that thinks so. A very large contingent around the league fell the same way.
His defense is so overrated as to be comical. He has poor ball handling skills. Makes a lot of dumb mistakes, especially passing the ball, and post injury he is nowhere near the finisher or rebounder that he once was.
His contract is over and Doc Rivers shouldn't even think about playing him at this point. The stakes are too high and Doc has started to get "it" in regards to substitutions and rotations over the last 8-10 games or so.
The team invested 4 years into Tony and I just feel that he is not demonstratively better now than he was as a rookie. So cut ties and use the money in a wiser acquisition.
No hard feelings. He tried his best. But injuries and lack of basketball comprehension held him back and he is just not what this team needs anymore.
Besides I'd rather have Ray Allen, Pierce and Posey guarding Kobe than Tony Allen at this point. Play defense against him and make him work on defense too.
