I could see Scal getting some minutes. No, seriously. I think the Celtics are going to beat the ever living crap out of Gasol, Odom, and Radmonovic. I think we'll see some foul trouble possibly in the front court because of how aggressive Doc and Tom will be having the bigs playing the Lakers bigs.

The Lakers bigs are soft and if after a couple of games of being hammered consistently, the Lakers front court doesn't just disappear, I'd be very surprised.

Look for Doc to use lots of fouls from his backup bigs being aggressive, pushing people off the block and clocking them when they try to come inside.

Tony Allen's life is unfolding like a country music song...

if his dog dies, you may be on to something....

Well I was an Oklahoma boy, Big City bound
D and Al who came with me, just aren't around
I had my ups and downs, but now can't ya see
I tried to dunk on a continuation and out went my knee

So I came back slow, but I worked really hard
People believed in me, and my family was so proud
Til I was foolin around, raising a little hell
and ouch snapped the sound of my ACL

When you love life, life loves you right back

I've been thinking a lot about Tony Allen over the past few days since the Lakers got into the Finals. His performance in La-La land was excellent. His penetration killed the Lakers that night. He got to the rim at will, he created space for everyone, he punished the Lakers defense whenever they went to help on defense. Good D also. He was just brilliant. I don't think the Celtics build that 20 point lead with Tony that night.

His ability to get to the rim, to attack the heart of LA's defense, will be missed. After watching the Lakers defense I think Tony was going to be the best offensive player we had to offer off the bench. Tony Allen could have played an important role in the Finals for Boston. Still those mental mistakes ....

i cant get over the fact that most forgot about scalabrine steppin up when kevin went down and did a great job~

he can help us~

We lose the battle of the boards with Scal.  The guy just can't rebound.

I think I'd rather have a guard than Scala. He's our 6th big man. Unless he's going to get minutes ahead of say Baby, I don't see why we'd be dressing him.

I love Tony and his abilities, he's just so inconsistent and plagued with doubt ... I'd be crossing my fingers any time he was on the floor. Sorry, but I just think we're in the realm now of "too important to take the chance" ... on him or Scal.

We lose the battle of the boards with Scal.  The guy just can't rebound.

The good thing Scal does, though, is that he keeps the guy he's guarding off the boards, as well.  Despite his low rebounding numbers, he's only being outrebounded by 1.5 boards every 48 minutes.  He's also holding opposing power forwards to 39.6% shooting, an an Opponent's PER of 10.4 (which is an absolutely phenomenal number.)  In very limited time, he's even better against small forwards.

Scal doesn't score much, but he doesn't hurt the team nearly as much as most assume.  When the primary goal is to shut down an opposing forward, Scal has done an exceptional job.

Just some more of the Scali "intangibles" and why we love him so much. But Roy is absolutely right. When KG went down Scal did a great job starting and taking players like Rashard Lewis, Udonis Haslem, Drew Gooden, Dirk Nowitski, and Tim Duncan and neutralizing them early in the game so that the Celtics could take advantage.

I say use some Scal to help beat up the Lakers bigs. Use all your fouls up front for a game or two early and get these guys thinking twice before going into the paint.

I think we have seen the last of our friend Tony Allen in a Green and White uni. But if he goes out with a bang and a ring, I think he'll be o'kay with that.

Why are you so anti-Tony? I understand people are sometimes frustrated with some players, don't like them, etc... but there are 100 your posts about how you want TA to go. God...

I know he has become an afterthought during the playoffs, but am I the only one who is bummed by his playing status listed as "doubtful"?  Let's face it, Kobe is going to require alot of work, and no one player can stop him, but can anyone else on our roster come as close to Tony as being built to at least make him work up a sweat over long stretches?  Posey lacks the lateral quickness. I foresaw Tony getting some burn this series, but I guess that won't happen.

Tony Allen practiced today. The MRI was negative. Doc doesn't have to decide who's active/inactive for Game 1 until 8pm on Thursday, and he doesn't seem to be in a hurry to give his decision. When pressed by a reporter, Doc's answer was, "He's starting."

That's a great point, Roy.  Not something that most would think about, but a very crucial element to the game none the less.  TP
