With 90% of the "experts" picking the Lakers in this series, and probably at least one-third of "objective" Celtics fans choosing LA, as well, it's good to see we have one ally firmly in our corner: the computer over at WhatIfSports:

Quote
Our friends at WhatIfSports.com have simulated the 2008 NBA Finals between the Celtics and Lakers 10,000 times in order to determine the likelihood of either team winning it all.

In the 11th Finals matchup of these two teams, the recently rebuilt Celtics come out on top by winning the series 64% of the time. The most common occurrence is a six game series, where Boston wins it all in its return home after three games in LA.

Celtics in six!  For a further breakdown, follow this link.

But it has the all-time Celtics beating the all-time Lakers 61.5% of the time.  :)

Bye LA

I want to join you here, but I predicted sweeps against both Atlanta and Cleveland, and they went 7 games.  I didn't make a prediction (in public) against Detroit, and it was over in 6 (and we won 2 road games).

I'm keeping my mouth shut on this one.

Celtics in 5 or 6 (tops)!

KG/Perk/PJ are going to abuse the Lakers' frontcourt!

Pierce/Ray Ray/PO-Z are going to exploit the soft europeans (Sasha, VladRad).

Pau Gasol's nickname is "The Big Poodle" for heaven's sake!

Kobe thinks he can exploit our weakness by "guarding" Rondo only to leave him wide open so he can help out. Rondo hits those shots or we bring in Eddie to hit those shots. Either way we run 12 DEEP with skills, heart, muscle, and hustle!

We've proven in these playoffs that:

one man (Joe Johnson)alone cannot beat us 4 out of 7 games
one man (Lebron James) equipped with perimeter shooters cannot beat us 4 out of 7 games
a 7 man TEAM (Deeeetroit) equipped with leadership + experience cannot beat us 4 out of 7 games

As I mentioned in the other thread, in ESPN at the least we have the AccuScore crap behind us so computers do like us. I wouldn't be surprised if Hollingers super computer has the Celtics on top too, despite his love for the Lakers.

1-0
2-0

Mine exactly.  Winning 1 and 2.  Lakers win on the high of being home.  Celtics win the sandwich game in LA.  Lakers win to avoid elimination.  Cs close it out in the first game back home.

Okay, execute!
