As Tommy has been saying for years, "Run, run, run!"

Against the Pistons the Celtics are so much better when they run.  It starts with Perk or KG getting the defensive rebound, outletting to Rondo, who is running with Ray (we all saw that play last night in Game 5).  This gets the entire team easy shots, particularly Ray.  It also stops Detroit from setting their Defense, and off a made basket the Celtics can set their D.  When we run, we win.  Plus, when we run we don't have to deal with their ball pressure.

The game is that simple.

I think this is right, but I also think one reason the Cs stopped doing this in the 4th quarter last night was a desire to run the clock down and not let the Pistons get extra chances.  Here's hoping we see more of the running on Friday....
Celtics fan for life.

Perk is great at starting a fastbreak. I think he's easily the best outlet passer on the Celtics. Everyone else tends to grab the rebound and pause for a couple of counts, but when Perk knows one of the guards is down the floor toward half court, he quckly releases an accurate outlet pass immediately after rebounding the ball. It's definitely an underrated aspect of his game.

I've been preaching this for years, and especially with this team: run and attack and you'll win consistently, play half-court and take your chances ... maybe 50%, if you're lucky. This is what made no sense bringing Sam here, as this team is NOT consistently successful in a half-court offense.

The Sam move still made sense at the time because there were no better options at point guard. Sam wouldn't have been Danny's choice in the perfect world, but I can see why Danny had to sign someone. We couldn't ave gone into the postseason with Eddie as our only backup point guard. Lindsey Hunter would absolutely eat Eddie alive, as much as I like the guy. I still think signing Sam was the correct move to make. Some moves just don't work out like you'd hope.

It was the wrong move then, and it's the wrong move in hindsight. We could have done many more productive things with that money both for this season and next, and it's a bit discouraging at times to see management make such mistakes. They knew before he came here that he was a half-court guy, and was not the kind of passer/play-maker that we needed at point. So many people complain now who were singing his praises just weeks ago, but Sam is just playing like Sam, no differently than he always has, and he was a poor addition to this team ... we didn't need another over-rated, under-used wood-warmer.

Amen to that! Perfectly said Bahku. As far as them stating Hunter would pick House clean, maybe, but Sam sure looked like a fool in the backcourt as well so where's the big addition. You out pass a press, not out dribble it anyway...

Running the ball is EXACTLY what we need to do. Forget running the clock down. Blow them out of the building!
