Before everyone continues to panic I think it is important to note that this team still has not trailed in a playoff series or in the 2nd half of a Game 7.  I think everyone should calm down and see how the team responds before everyone gets on the No Heart/No Smarts/Tired/Not Clutch/etc... bandwagon.

Tonights game will show a lot in terms of this teams future success.

I think most of us are deep-down very grateful of this season, whatever the outcome, and are aware of the blessing of this team being where it is ... it's been a long time, after all.

I totally agree that we should stay away from the "sky is falling" type of negativity, and be more appreciative for what we have, but saying things like "never" or "still haven't" or "can't" is the type of thing that just begs for a first, and I personally try very hard to stay away from such statements.

I'm not knocking you, CP, because I know where you're coming from, and I agree. It's just a superstition thing with me, I guess ... and if I can keep from tempting fate, I do my best to do so. (But a TP for the sound reasoning)

Oh you're definitely right about that . . . we definitely must win tonight but there are many people here and on the radio acting as if the series is already over.  I was doing my best to point out that it is too early to do so until we see how they respond tonight.

I'd say Game 2 was the closest we've seen to a game with both teams playing well.  I think tonight we'll see peak performances from both sides.  May the better team win.

Optimists view:  The Celts win tonight and spank the Pistons like a new born in Game 6 en route to the Finals.  The Celts have indeed answered the bell in any game that has come close to being a must win.  I like our boys tonight!
Yup

There's been no game were both teams played well, there's been no game where the losing side played even mediocre basketball.

This whole series is about which team collapses first. Who's mentally weaker ... not stronger, weaker. It's one team falling apart rather than the other rising to the occassion.

For my book it's been the worst series of the playoffs. Here's hoping it's over soon.

Yeah me too, actually kind of. I expect Detroit will give their best performance of the series tonight. I expect Boston to give a quality performance but I'm not sure they give a great performance. Luckily the C's have a huge margin of error so that should be enough to get the win.

Well, I did say the "closest" was Game 2, but no, it has not been one of the all time great displays of championship level basketball (or anywhere near it)
Yup

  • Let them hate, as long as they fear
Mazel tov!
And someday in the midst of time,
When they ask you if you knew me
Remember that you were a friend of mine

TP partly for the post, but mostly for the Capt. Spaulding avatar.

Yes, we've struggled, but we have thus far won every single game we've needed to win.  We haven't been in a hole all postseason.  We need to step things up tonight or that trend could change, but overall we've done rather well this postseason - our struggles have mostly been in putting away teams that are more desperate than we are in a given game.
