They announce the ref crew the morning of the game.  It won't be Joe Crawford, because he's doing tonights LA/SA game.

The Cs are actually 2-1 this postseason with Crawford.

doesn't change the fact that he's an abomination to good officiating, though it was nice to benefit from some of his horrid calls the last game.

I thought they didn't announce it until gametime.  Wasn't one of the big things that Donaghy was doing, selling information about who was reffing certain games?  Since the league knows that certain refs can really effect the line and over/under, I believe they don't announce the refs until as late as possible.

I could be wrong about this though.

Whoever it is, I think no more than 50 free throws attempted by either team will keep the game watchable.

65 FTAs like last night is too many.

Put the whistle away!  I don't want to watch the rules! I want to watch basketball!!!

I wouldn't want Joey unless we end up playing the Spurs ... then he'd actually be on our side, (go figure). No Violet Palmer, No Kenny Mauer, no Joey Crawford ... I'd rather have Dan, but he did the last game.

Steve Javie, I've noticed, keeps the FTAs to a minimum.

Bad news: Rush and Callahan were together for Atlanta game 4.  Good news: Rush and Mauer were together for Cleveland game 7, and Rush was also on the crew for Cleveland game 1.

I remember thinking the refereeing was very bad in Atlanta, and I felt like the refs were influenced by the home crowd.  If this is the danger, it shouldn't be a problem in Boston.  All of the games these guys have reffed, the home team won (not surprisingly, given the trend in these playoffs)

You are not wrong at all, in fact you are 100% correct.

They announce the officiating crew about 30 minutes before tipoff (i believe).
