I guess it's an interesting coincidence, but last night's performance had nothing to do with the refereeing.

our team was freakin horrible last night.  One of the only games I've just given up on and walked away with us down 7.   For some reason I knew there was no way we were going to win it... we couldn't hit ANYTHING.    I just turned that trash off and wasn't surprised at all when I later found out we were blown out by 19.   Garbage.

I'm not too confident about the remainder of this series.  It sounds like ubuntu is dying.

The Celts had the ball down 5 with under 4 minutes left in the game and twice failed to score.  I never had a warm, cushy feeling that they were going to win this game, but it wasn't exactly the blowout the final score would indicate.

Well, if the Refs weren't giving the C's as many calls as they were giving them, it would have been a 20 point blowout in the first half.  If anyone should be complaining after last night's reffing, its Detroit.

I thought the reffing was inconsistent last night: the Pistons constantly fouled, as usual, and the refs called some of the more ticky tack fouls on them, while ignoring some pretty blatant fouls, or blowing the whistle really late when the Pistons are hacking away at the guy with the ball.  It's not about the number of free throws each team gets, it's the fact that the Pistons are allowed to play much more aggressive defense than their opponent.

That being said, I agree last night's game can't be blamed on the refs, it was lack of effort and execution by the Celtics.  But in case anyone thinks the W/L records for each ref are interesting, there they are.  I feel like there are some refs where I get a bad feeling as soon as I find out they're in the game, like Violet Palmer.  And again, that's not because of the number of free throws each team gets, it's how aggressive each team is allowed to be, similar to how some umps will have a tiny strike zone with some pitchers, etc.

Thank you for that. Now I'll forever know who was responsible for two of the worst officiated games I've ever seen.

I don't think anyone can gripe about the officiating in game 4,  especially not Detriot. They all whined the whole night, but each of the calls they contested were just so clearly fouls that it was comical. On the play where Chauncey started dancing and spinning around, and Flip kicked the scoreboard, they showed the replay, and it was obviously a foul.
