Did anyone else catch what I hope is not a "developing situation" at the
end of the game?

Big Baby and Eddie House were 2 of the garbage timers with 30 sec left or
so.  House brought the ball up and it looked like Baby posted up FT line
extended --- which i'm guessing was his own idea not a place he's supposed
to be setting up, i.e. 20 feet from the basket, even with less than a minute left.

From the 3-point line House tried to wave him down/off/away but he
wouldn't budge.  House begrudgingly threw then entry pass then with 10
seconds left, turned disgusted, and looked to walk toward the bench.  He looked to be p---ed and
looked to be yelling to/back&forth with Doc -- i'm guessing about Baby breaking the play,
but he was in Doc's ear before the timeout ended --- he threw his
wristband in disgust at the scorer's table as time expired.

It could just be frustration over the loss, but it could also be that
Cassell moaned about playing time and got it... not exactly the best
message.  And IMO last night was another night that Cassell --- along with
most of the team --- just didn't have it.  House might have.

Anyone else catch this and know what happened?

My guess/hope is that House wants the plays run right... even during garbage time. He seems not afraid to get on players' cases when they miss assignments/plays.

I didn't see the play -- I was pretty disgusted with the Celtics at that point -- but if it's as you describe, I don't have a huge problem with House's reaction.  I'd be angry if I lost all my minutes to an inferior player, too.

Yeah House is a passionate player, I didn't see that play but I'm not surprised.  I don't blame him, they could've used some of that fire and passion on the court during the real part of the game last night.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

As much as I love Eddie and as much as I've grown to dislike El Huevos, I have a hard time imaging Eddie having any success against the Piston's D last night.  They were playing as tough as they've played all season; Hunter would have picked his pocket.

Speaking of which...  I think I need a bigger TV, 'cause it sure looks to me sitting on the couch that Hunter's committing about eight or nine fouls per possession.  I'm also getting sick (and I can't say the C's never do this, either) of seeing offensive players pushing off the defender and not having an offensive foul called.  You want to eliminate flopping in the league?  Call an offensive foul even when the defender doesn't fall down.

Great post, Mr Hobbs.

I watched one more Celtics possession after Billups' 3.  I couldn'thandle the torture any longer after that.

I think the "let's see if Sam is ready to contribute NOW" experiment is over again.  Eddie will see minutes in game 5.
Yup

wait like he did to Cassell? :P

what House lacks in so-called "true PG skills" he makes up for in energy, spreading the offense, and hustle. Last night, when it seemed they were playing in cement, it was a great time to insert him in the 2nd half and see what he could make happen.

same with Powe. I'll give Doc credit for leaving Cassell in in Game 3 when he helped turn the game around... but he's got to realize when its *not* working too

let's hope you're right Redz!

the team was crrrrrrrrrraaaaappp last night.  Horrible.   I felt like we were shooting 12%.  I was surprised it was over 30.   Three allstars and nobody could make a basket.   Ridiculous.

Sam Cassell might be the death of ubuntu.   I'm not too confident about the rest of these playoffs.  The reactionary fan in me wants to say, "Just let Detroit put us out of our misery before we have to suffer through watching the Lakers own our squad"

Yeah I just the replay it was right b4 the game ended.  My guess is Eddie wanted Bigbaby to set a screen so he can get a 3 off but Bibgbay decided to pst up and then throw it away as the game ended.

Can we PLEASE see House early and often in game 5, just lilke game 7 with the Cavs.

Yeah I would have liked to see Doc go with House in GM 4 if for no other reason than to send a msg to Cassell and the whole team that UBUNTU is still "in effect".... that there will be no complaining about playing time, even if Cassell was just being honest or was asked a question (i.e. not starting stuff).

team, team, team.

I agree that House should play in Game 5.  I also think that Powe should play and try to stop Antonio from getting wide open outside shots.  He has more exterior mobility than either Perk or PJ.

Eddie House is a bad match-up vs the Piston.  We put him in the game the the Piston will press the heck out of us.  What needs to happen is Rondo has to step up and play the way he did in game 1.  I really don't like Eddie House in this match-up.
