Like Alice at the Mad Hatter's tea party, nothing is as it should be, nor as it seems in this playoff season.
Every game contradicts what we thought was the reality established in the game before.
Thursday night our "Three" scored 75 points on 29-51 shooting and they lost. On Saturday, it was 47 points on 16-38 and they won.
Thursday, in Boston, Detroit had played with tenacity and poise, hitting every clutch shot to steal home court advantage and on Saturday they were humiliated and heard boos raining down on them on their home floor.
No one has been more a victim of this "topsy turvy" scenario than Ray Allen.
Here are some perplexing statistics from Marc Murphy's column in today's Boston Herald:
The Celtics’ Game 3 Eastern Conference finals win...Allen again struggled to score - 14 points on 5-for-16 shooting from the field, including 1-for-6 from 3-point range.
....Allen’s highest-scoring game of these playoffs - 25 points on 9-for-16 shooting - came in the Celts’ first home loss, in Game 2 against Detroit.
In fact, Allen has been at his offensive best in the C’s seven playoff losses, averaging 16.1 points per game on 44 percent shooting. His only three 20-plus scoring efforts occurred in defeats.
On the other hand, Allen has averaged 11.3 points on 33.9 percent shooting in the Celtics’ 10 playoff wins.
Obviously no one in their right mind would try to shoot badly, but given these anomalies........perhaps it's worth a try?

Now that the Celtics have won their first road game and snatched the momentum and home court advantage back they are looking for another road win and the Pistons are the desperate team talking about a "must win" game.
What can we expect tonight? Will this become an an epic, old fashioned war of a conference finals series, like so many from the "glory days" of the eighties with the Sixers, or can the Celtics put their feet to the Piston's proverbial throats with another win in Motown tonight?
One way or the other the Celtics Stuff Live crew will be dishing their insight and whimsey at the game's conclusion. We hope you will join us.
