It seems like Stuckey presents a really serious matchup problem for the Celtics.  Rondo is quick enough to guard him, but Stuckey has 4 inches and 30 pounds against him.  Ray Allen is the same size, but he is way too slow.    Pierce is bigger but probably not quick enough (and who guards Prince is Pierce is on Stuckey).  Posey is a bit too slow, though certainly big enough.

So it seems like either you put Pierce on Stuckey and bring in Posey to handle Prince when Stucky and Prince are on the court.

But what if Stuckey just goes around Pierce and/or Posey.

In that case, it seems like you have to try out Tony Allen, who seems like the only guy with the requisite skills *in theory* (and that is a big assumption, obviously, given how inconsistently he plays) to guard Stuckey.

This seems like a potentially big deal going forward.  What do people think?

I still think we need to get Tony in a few of these games for about 5-10 mins at least to guard stuckey. This would also build Tony's confidence up in case we need to use him to guard kobe from time to time in the finals. TA did an awesome job on Kobe earlier this year

Rondo

If he pressures the ball he can easily defend him and defend him well.

I really have zero problem with Rondo guarding Stuckey

I don't see an unexperienced rookie, who seems to have a clear problem running his team's offense when faced with the prospect of tough, intense defense, poses the need for any major changes to our rotation or defensive philosophy

He's good but he's no Billups, Williams, or CP3

Rondo will handle him just fine and if Detroit wants to shift a good portion of their offense his way because they like his matchup with Rondo, I'll take that

I'd definitely want Stuckey taking important shots rather than Rip, Billups, Prince, Rasheed or McDyess

TA is an accident waiting to happen, so let him wait on the bench. I'd rather play house on Stuckey and let team defense even things out.
Rondo would be my 1st choice.

My first thought is TA being TA will really confuse poor Stuckey and for that reason alone I'd like to see what would happen.

Well, he confuses me, so..... Maybe it could work.

Why do we have to worry about Rodney Suckey? He was referred to as Stokey Suckey here? what happened? He no Suckey any more? Now he is "poor" Stokey? I dont know; I just rather have him than Allen. But  then, what do I know?

rodney stuckey is not good enough to worry about who guards him. whoever is out there will do fine.

Rodney Stuckey can flat out play, and the Celtics have been unable to stop him. Certainly House and Cassell have not done so.

It's not really about "who" guards him (I concur with connerhenry43, he's not good enough and almost everyone in our backcourt can defend him), but the way he's guarded. Just back off and don't foul: he's not a solid, consistent finisher. Try to force him to jumpers, put a hand on his face, he'll start failling and he's just a rookie.

I am content to have Stuckey have reasonably solid games out there because when he does they leave Billups on the bench. That is a huge win for us when that happens, injured or not.

It looked like to me that Rondo was covering Rip alot in the last game. Maybe that is by design or maybe due to switches. Either way that leaves Ray on Stuckey and that seemed ok with me. Stuckey, whom I really like, did most of his damage defensively when working in the traps employed during the second half.

As stated earlier, he is not going to beat us. Let him shoot jumpers and limit his dribble penetration. If he is shooting, that means Rip, Sheed and company are not and thats a good thing for me. 8)

it depends on the matchups, but I agree that TA should get some burn on stuckey - similar size, similar athletecism, just do not, I repeat, do not give Tony the ball on offense....
