James Posey has really been ineffective on both ends of the court for most of the last series and this series.  The C's need Posey to be big in Detroit to win.  I also think we will see Sam Saturday night.

Posey, - 11 in 16:03.   Does this mean both he and Pierce are to slow to defend the Piston's SGs?

Brown, - 5 in 18:35.  He does a decent job on defense.  He give more room then Perk and KG.  He needs to grab more rebounds.

Powe, got less the 3 minutes.

House, - 1 in 6:59.  Missed three shots.  His ball handling can be taken advantage of.

P.J. Brown wasn't really the reason why the Celtics couldn't come all the way back in the 4th.

He was a +3 for the quarter with 4 points, 1 assist, and 1 rebound and played good defense.

Perk may have helped a little but it wasn't like he was hot as all hell or playing great ball.

The fourth was about dumb, stupid mistakes on defense and when the Celtics didn't do that, Detroit made huge shots after 23 seconds of near perfect defense.

One thing I liked about Tony though, he penetrated and tried to get the ball to Garnett. Even though it was a bad pass, Garnett got it and put it in. Good things happen when you penetrate, and a good rate of mistakes can turn to positives.

But I think he can do a better job keeping up with Rip... I think he needs to be given a chance at it when Ray is not on because Posey clearly can't keep up, and I doubt Pierce can too.

in the 19 minutes all 5 starters played together, they allowed 30 points. 

Which works out to about 76 points for 48 minutes. 



In the other 29 minutes, they allowed 73 points.

As always, it's not just one thing that lost this game, but of all the factors involved, the bench was by far the biggest. The bench combined was 3 for 11 for 8 total points, 1 block, 0 steals, 2 assists, 5 rebounds (2 offensive), and 5 fouls! This is absolutely horrible, and there's no way this team is going to win with this lack of production from the subs ... period.

If Doc uses this as an excuse to play Sam, we're screwed, because we need to run MORE against this team, not less, and Sam will be the kiss of death. The Big Three did their job tonight, and now it's time for the bench to step up and do their part! They've been big all year, and this one is on them ... this is not a 3 or 4-man game, and the wood-warmers need to remember that.

2) defense.  Those drives look a little different with Perk in the lineup.  And he does a better job then PJ closing out on the big men.

The entire bench needs to take a hit. 


And I think it is fair to ask why the most productive unit wasn't used in the 4th.

both Rondo and Perkins played well enough. 


And they were the only ones outside the 3 stars you can say that about.

It's a tough situation, because Brown did hit a couple big shots that Perk wouldn't have hit, and he also makes the defense stay a little more honest than Perk does.

But when it comes down to it, I think Perk should have been in there as well.  He just is so important to the defense, and when you are giving up 100 points, defense should be the focus.

I really don't think we should put too much of anything in this game.

Our bench didn't produce and they should produce at home.

Our defense really wasn't there for most of the game and we only played well in spurts...but you do have to give credit to the Pistons for hitting 3's and for their bench/role players stepping up.

The close 50/50 fouls always seemed to go to the Pistons for whatever reason and that definitely had an impact on the game.

The Big 3 were great...I really thought they shot the ball well and made good decisions. I know that some of their "turnovers" were just bad calls by the refs and also the inability of Rondo being an offensive threat for most of the game.

The double teams off of Rondo really skelter our offense and we end up taking a lot of shots that are pressured...either by a defender or the shot clock winding down.
