Why will the C's not win on the road?

Because that is one less game of ticket sold, concessions, etc... for the owners.  Playoff games equal big $$$$$.

The Celtics are over the salary cap and we know that Wyc&Co. didn't morph into Cuban over the course of the season. All of these extra games bring in the revenue needed to pay the salary cap penalty and make even more money for the owners.

I personally do not care so long as they win 4 of the 7.

What are your thoughts?

Yeah, it's a bit of a conflict of interest, BUT the nba would stand to lose far more money if people found out games were fixed, even slightly slow...  although maybe not, the wwf and the globetrotters seem to do all right.

When the players are out on the court, they couldn't care less about Wyc's checkbook.

There have been some absurd threads and comments floating around here of late but, I gotta ask, is this for real? Do you honestly think the C's are throwing games on the road to make sure the most amount of home playoff games are played? Really? I don't think I can read this in any other way than as drenched in sarcasm. I surely hope so.

wyc and co combined have more money than cuban, they are just a bit more careful with it. I think it's pretty implausible that someone would risk getting knocked out of the playoffs by losing, just to have more games in the current series.

And the players couldn't care less about wyc and his money when they are on the court

  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.
I completely and wholeheartedly disagree. You think they're encouraged to lose away games?  A championship is much more valuable than the prospect of a couple of extra playoff games, both financially and in its value to the franchise.
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

It sure is about the money. Though maybe without any marquee stars in the game, the league will demonstrate a little integrity.

I tell you, if the Celtics win because of gifts from officials - I will be disappointed. If we don't win it honestly, I would rather lose.

I was saying this jokingly after Simmons mentioned it in one of his columns at the beginning of the playoffs, but that would be the craziest conspiracy theory ever, I think. The owner is telling the players to throw games so he can make more money that they weren't in on (players don't get compensated for the playoffs)?
