Here's something that has been mentioned a bit, but maybe has not received as much significance as I think it is.
The Celtics come off a tough series with the Hawks. Game 7 (blowout) against Atlanta itself wasn't tough, but the well documented players' loss of sleep before the game, the emotional energy spent worrying, pumping themselves up before and during the game certainly takes a lot out of a person.
Then the Cleveland series was a knock-down-drag-out physical brawl. Culminating with a very physical game 7 which went right down to the wire. Looking at KG's face during the 2nd half, he often appeared tired and could be seen blowing(mouth breathing). Clearly, he expends so much energy before during and after the game that exhaustion is expected.
My concern is this:
Given the intense battle in game 7 just yesterday, the depth of emotion that it took to win, the physical drain that invariably comes with it and the feeling of relief and accomplishment following the victory, can the C's have enough left in the tank with only one day between games?
I mean, could Ali and Frazier have a day off after one of their fights and then get right back in the ring with another challenger?
I believe if we win this Game 1, we'll be hard pressed to lose the series. But for the reasons stated above, I would be lying if I said I wasn't worried about a well rested Detroit team coming in town for game 1.
Anybody have any thoughts to lessen my fears?
Thanks.
