I need to clarify this. I am not losing sleep over this and I wasn't all that mad when it happened. I am not saying that we need to show up at Sterns's home with tourches demanding LBJ's head. I am simply stating that I believe Labron got away with one and you can't discount it because they were both OK with it

The whole thing wasn't a big deal. Pretend it was game 57 in the regular season and the player involved was Damon Jones instead of LeBron James. It became an issue for these reasons: Network TV, it's the playoffs, it's the playoffs where flagrant fouls have been a storyline perpetuated by the media, it's the NBA and media golden boy - LeBron James, and his mother was involved. I'll bet $$ that both players involved thought nothing of it. And if either on of them did think anything of it, then they really need to grow up.
I can all of your points, but would you guys have the same opinion if that action caused a fight and Pierce was suspended? Or what if he hits another area like the throat and he's injured?

those are hyoptheticals. the fact is, what happened wasnt a big deal.

I know these are hypotheticals, but my point is a rule shouldn't be ignored because they make up. If Rondo got up and high fived after being thrown to the floor against Atlanta, should there still have been no action taken?
Let's face it, that was a pretty subtle elbow. And most of the time the only reason a foul (never mind a flagrant) gets called is because the guy is selling it big time. Sometimes its blatant, sometimes its incidental, sometimes its not even there. It's the zebras that need to be consistent so the players know what is and is not a foul (flagrant or otherwise).

so you think KG should have been suspended for elbowing that ref while freeing himself then right?

KG took a little cat swipe at someone in Game 4 too.  There was a pile up for a loose ball on top of him, and he took a very meager little paw at someone on top of him (I think it was Varajeo).  It was no big deal, but he definitely did it.

I'm glad he was not suspended, but if he was I would have agreed with it because you cannot touch a ref no matter what.

I just think you are missing my point. I am not saying that this was the worst non call ever in the history of sports. But when you look at it, he really didn't have a reason to react the way he did. That sort of play happens all the time to stop a fast break and he threw an elbow out of anger and frustration becasue he didn't get to dunk the ball. Rules are rules and you don't make excuses for them to be broken just becaue it doesn't apper that bad.

agreed, and i don't think any of them, lebron or KG's are any big deal, just wondering if angry is consistent in how he wants the rule called  ;D

and fair enough angry, TP for saying it should be called against our guys too.

I in no way agree, and that kind of officiating would continue to ruin basketball in my opinion, and turn guys into robots, but i respect you sticking to your guns  :)

thanks for the tp. I also respect your opinon as well. And believe me, I am not trying to make too big of a deal out of it because like I said earlier, I don't think it was the worst thing done by an NBA player to another.

I think this was the line of thinking as the play went on...

First Pierce wants to make sure he doesnt dunk it.  Then Pierce holds him so they both dont fall.

James thinks the hold is excessive and throws the elbow.

Pierce takes offense to the elbow and holds on to him longer.

James mama comes out cursing and James tells her to stop.

James realizes that Pierce wasnt initially trying to start stuff and goes up to him.  Pierce realizes how James could've taken it the wrong way.  Both acknowledge that there was excessive physical contact throughout the play (with Pierce thinking, if u cant elbow me like that, and James thinking, u cant hold me like that).  However, both know its not a big deal.

They kiss and make up at FT, play over.

Have you ever thought of writing a script for a TV show?  You could easily get a half hour out of that plot!  Hell, it's better than half of the stuff TNT is pitching incessantly. :)
