First off, what I like...

-Increased intensity (e.g. "no layups")
-More active fans
-More meaningful games

But I have a feeling the playoffs could be a lot better. Unfortunately, the NBA and its TV affiliates are so obsessed with squeezing out every penny that the quality suffers. What I don't like...

-Ridiculous Home Court Advantages

This isn't just happening with the Celtics. This is happening in pretty much every series. It's to the point were the outcomes are predictable and fan interest wanes.

-Longer Commercials

In my opinion, this completely kills the flow of the game. Basketball isn't meant to be played with so many long delays. It's a game of rhythm. How are shooters supposed to catch fire when there's a long commercial a few times each quarter?

-Too much time between games

I know this is similar to the regular season schedule but I feel like at least the consecutive home games should be played back to back. Once again, I think it would help a series have more rhythm.

Since comercials is something we have to deal with regardless (NBA is a business to make money) I wish they would change the comercials a little bit.  Even though at first I liked the Dockers comercials, but now it has been more overplayed than a Backstreet Boys song (when it was popular).

Lets change up the cell phone, and the cars, and the beers comercials.  Everything has become so predictable, and for somebody that watches a good portion of most games, I am extremely sick and tired of the same comercials.
Baby Jesus!

  • Let's Go Celtics
The refs are who are killing them for me.  Player's mistakes get more scrutinized during this time, and so don't the refs.  Their deficiencies from the regular season are multiplied during the playoffs.  I think that kind of goes in with what you're saying about the home court advantage.  I know basketball is the hardest sport to ref, and they are human and feed off the emotion of the crowd, but it really is getting absurd.  This is really beating a dead horse as everyone has been saying this all playoffs long, however I still feel the need to bring it up because that's how bad they are.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

Yeah, the home court advantage calls are pretty bad. They seam to happen a lot during potential momentum changing moments.

On the Celtics however: too many jump shots. At home theirs fall, and on the road the opponents' shots fall.

yea, not just in the celtics series, but in all series, the homecourt advantage is getting ridiculous in regards to calls.

pick any random game form this round and look at the FT's, in almost every game, the home team gets at least 10+ more than the visitor.

I'm not sure on what people are basing the idea that the refs are making home calls. In every game you can hear the home crowds complaining about many calls, including calls that were legitimately missed that went against the home team.

I think the biggest hindrance to enjoying the playoffs for some people are their preconceptions. They will complain that home teams get all the calls, then they will complain that we don't get any calls when we are at home. They will claim that star players get all the calls, then they will complain that our star players don't get any calls. Notice a trend?

Some even confabulate conspiracy theories to justify their out of touch with reality view of their team being cheated. Too much left brain activity, not enough right brain!

I would be happy with reasonable start times.  10:45 games Tuesday night is a killer.

while we're here, since when did it become OK to go to break during a 20 second TO?  This flood of commercial time is killing the flow...

Cut down on the pre and post show games.  Fill those with commercials.

It's pretty crazy to go to a high school game and see how different the pace can be without all the interruptions.  It would be pretty cool if the NBA did an occasional FIFA like commercial free game. Let the players wear Budweiser uniforms for a day if it makes it happen.
