There's not much info to this story:

"Before their Game 7 matchup against the Celtics, the Hawks stayed at the Liberty Hotel on May 3rd in Cambridge.

A league source said Brandon Lyons, who operates the Alibi Lounge in the hotel, instructed his bar staff to give anyone affiliated with the Hawks a double shot in any alcoholic beverage they ordered."

I love this, this is how you know the Celtics are back in Boston, this is so much like all the stories from the eighties. Things like no air conditioning, or room service in visiting teams hotels, getting players drunk, are all examples of things we can do as Celtics fans to help our team.

I mean good on Mr. Lyons, but I"m not sure who this looks worse on, the C's or the Hawks?

Thoughts?

Double dribbling
Word is, Boston entertainment prince Patrick Lyons might have played a role in the Celtics' blowout Game 7 win over the Hawks a week ago that vaulted them to the second round. The Hawks stayed at the Liberty Hotel May 3 in Cambridge before playing the Celtics. A league source said Lyons, who operates the Alibi Lounge in the hotel, instructed his bar staff to give anyone affiliated with the Hawks a double shot in any alcoholic beverage they ordered.

There are some things that might be a little low, but I really can't blame this one.  An athlete should not be drinking the day before a game anyway because not only does it take concentration away, but it's really bad for the body.  There should've been a Hawks' staff (like the sports conditioning coach) letting them know that that'll just made them sluggish.

But to change a the subject a little bit, I was wondering if the city of Boston (and other places) can change the law for an early game like this.  Actually, I dont know if it's a state law, but arent places not allowed to sell alcohol before noon?  So, during a 1pm game, can a bar open extra early and sell alcohol due to Celtics games?  I was wondering about that when we went to the game.

Not sure what their hours are, but I can tell you that I drank at Sullivan's Tap before the first Red Sox parade....at 8am.  They were open early then - I'm not sure if they opened specially for that day or not.  There are many bars around Mass that serve early.  I used to work 3rd shift in Gloucester and we'd go to a bar there all the time in the morning.

Thanks.  That was something that I was wondering because on the Cape, they're usually extremely strict about things like that (although I think there's a bar that serves fisherman all night somewhere).  Over this weekend, I went to Maine for a retreat and we went to a "Topless Donut Shop", which was hilarious.  They sell donuts from 6am-11am everyday with topless girls.  It was actually extremely grimy because this was in the back of a strip club, where the private dances are given, and the donuts being sold are literally Dunkin Donuts donuts being resold for $2.  Anyway, the reason that I brought that up is that since the place opens at 6am, that means that you can buy beer in the morning.  Although they were highly overpriced.

It's not as good as it sounds.  The setting was basically in this dark room painted purple where they give private dances and a small display with about a dozen Dunkin Donuts and 2 okay girls (nice "body" but kind of old).  The donuts were only $2 though (coffee was $3.50), so basically ur paying $2 for a single DD donut with a woman serving u with her bare pectoral region.  The awkward thing wasw actually talking to them because, well, thats what ur suposed to do I guess.  But since we were all having hangovers and experienced a wake and bake, things were just really awkward (we also had a group of 10 guys).
