Once again, after a disgusting road loss, I am forced to look for a silver lining...so I went back into our storied history when we had the Real Big 3....1984, 2nd round vs the Knicks, we lost all our road games and won all our home games...we know what happened that year...title- Yes, I know we played them tougher on the road but the end result is the end result. At home, we crushed them..every game...first 110-92, 2nd 116-102, 5th 121-99 and 7th, 121-104... I guess I would take this route to the title this year but would much rather prefer our 86 path to the title...
In 1981, our 7 game matchup with the Sixers was a bit different and we all remember that amazing comeback, down 3-1...thank you Mr. Bird. Hard to say it was our coach that got us that series win. It was one player who stepped up big time, in a big situation, who put the team on his back and refused to settle for anything less than a win...We have a new Big 3 but it is one of there jobs to rise up and take this team to the promised land. In times of adversity, especially on the road, one of our big 3 need to just refuse to let us lose and inspire our team to greatness...Especially if our coach cannot find the right words..Yes, we all know Doc has layed a big egg on the road so far, well, how about one of our big 3 recognize this and take matters into there own hands..Great Teams rebound after blowouts..I expect nothing less then this on Monday
I guess, after 4 straight passionless, invisible defensive and offensive performances, it is time for our true leader to emerge from the road wreckage and just refuse to lose...If our players cannot find inspiration from Doc on the road..which they apparently cannot, it is time for the excuses to end and the gauntlet to be thrown down...Maybe they need to watch the Videos of the old time teams after a blowout in the playoffs and see what true title contenders do in times of adversity. KG inspires passion..he inspires his teammates..start stepping on some toes KG, getting in some players faces and demand nothing less then 200 percent blood, sweat and execution....If we lose this series due to inability to win on the road, Doc will of course be blamed but in the end, it is the Big 3 whose mirrors will tell the true tale of our playoff journey....Truly Great Players can win in spite of there coach and Truly Great Players can rise up above all else and refuse to lose...We had Bill Russell, Larry Bird, and not it is time for KG to take our team onward...Get in their Faces, demand passion, commitment, and play like it is game 7 tomorrow..refuse to lose and stop finding excuses....PP has never been that type of in your face, inspirational player, KG is and can be much more....
Coaching advice for our road challenged Doc- Get everyone a full length mirror today and bring them into the locker room.....place each player in front of the mirror and let them know in the end, it is that reflection that is responsible for their destiny....
