good article on espn highlighting this series and last years eastern finals and the circumstances are of course eerily similar. i'm just thinking that there's a lot of talk about what lebron did in games 3-6 last year and a lot of people are expecting him to do the same, but i fully expect the celtics to come out tonight knowing about his mammoth effort last year and be able to deal with it. i think this celtics team is too good defensively to let one player single-handedly win a series.

anyone worried about the similarities? any other thoughts?

ps. i'm sure this has been touched on before, and if there is another thread, although i'm sure there isn't, then my apologies and please move it.

This is not the same Cavs team that took out Detroit.  This is a less talented team, imo and the Celtics are a better defensive team than the Pistons.

It is similar but Boston has a much better team than Detroit last year imho.

I noticed too, that we did a better statistical job against LBJ than did Detroit in the first 2 games.

I do think the Cavs came in knowing what they would have to do, its no suprise. Meaning LBJ simply wasn't able to execute and in fact we stole the ball often when he did pass out. Perhaps, purposely swinging the ball potentially is the answer, but I still see the same results, perhaps a closer game, but still ultimately a win!

I would actually like to see the series extended, as we need the test of fire before moving on. But I really don't see it happening.

Caveat being, if the referees decide to call a touch foul type game, getting us into early foul trouble then having to play soft. In that case LBJ has a great day both at the line and then driving scoring 40+ or such...

The Cavs have to find a way to win this game, having very little to do with last year really, because I think this years Celts is a better team than Detroit of last year, IMO...

Getting pretty annoyed with these kind of things. Celtics are not the Pistons and this a different Cavs team. I wish they would stop trying to compare what happened last year to this year.  ::)

I see no similarities to last years Detroit series, but being a realist, I would say we loose tonite and win game game 4. I honsestly can't see us shutting down Lebron 3 straight games. Between that and our road woes so far in the playoffs and Cleveland tasting some homecourt, I just can't see us winning tonite. I do hope I am wrong, but am looking to be on the loosing end of a dog fight.

Really, "And these Celtic can't win on the road", crap...

Well, that's all this team needs to hear for their motivation tonight!

Depending on which "expert" is analyzing the series you either get that this is similar to the Detroit Cleveland series from last year or you get that this is similar to what the Spurs did to LeBron in the finals. From what I've seen its more similar to the Spurs because it looks like the Celtics are shutting him down like the Spurs but you never know and thats why they play the games.

We are going to have to play Lebron AND the refs tonight. You know they are going to gift wrap this guy at least 5-6 bad calls tonight. Count them out. I'm not much of a conspiracy guy, but there is no way that the NBA wants this thing done without Lebron going off!

I know. Nba is definately corrupt and seems to like to have games go the way that will let their biggest stars do well whether or not they deserve it. It makes me mad.

No way Lebaby's officiating crew allows the Celtics to win game three. Game four will be the Celtics first road win of the playoffs, because the difference between the Celtics and last year's Pistons is simply desire. One team wants it, needs it and the other team had it, and foolishly thought it was still theirs.
