I'm not sure what the sentiment is across the board here, but I really can't wait until we get another ABC game with Breen's crew or at least Marv on TNT.  Seems like we've had Stockton and Fratello quite a bit thus far in the playoffs, and for my part, Dick Stockton has been absolutely killing me.  Almost seems at times like were watching a different game.  Don't mind Fratello much -- I always like having a coach in the booth -- but ever since the "Tony Allen tremendous offensive player" comment in Game 5, I've been paying more careful attention to Stockton, and it's gotten me a bit frustrated.

As most know by now, I'm a big-time Breen booster (and much love to JVG, too), and I have no problems with Marv and Reg.  For those sticking with the national telecasts, who are your favorite announcing teams?

Yep, IP, definitely a New York guy, right?  Ian's done a lot of work for FAN over the years, did the Nets play-by-play on YES prior to Marv and ends up with a fair number of Jet games for CBS each yar, I think.

In an odd twist, I believe he was a student of my mother's at some point over the last couple of decades as well.

In regards to national guys:

Marv's great.  It just feels like a big game when he's involved. I think part of it goes back to the fact he was involved in just about every big game during my teenage years when he was doing NBC games.  I've also been a Breen fan since the '02 playoffs with the C's.  Pretty solid play by play guy.

Donny Marshall threw a pretty sharp barb at Fratello today on WEEI.  Theysort of gave him a chance to elaborate and he continued tooling on his former coach.  Saying something the effect of having "no idea what he was talking about a lot of the time" and he mentioned that Fratello no longer his telestrator has lost his one bit.

Kind of different to hear one color guy take a shot at another.

Yep, those are my two right there.  And when I wouldn't give for ABC/ESPN or TNT to complete the perfect trio by getting Gus Johnson to come aboard for some playoff action...

Marv's the man,he almost makes Reggie Miller tolerable.I guess Reggie is getting better in time,but in the beginning i couldn't take it.I like giving people time to do better,so i will wait another season on Reggie,before i really go to deep on him.

What I noticed is how much in favor they were of Lebron during the game.  Everytime there was a foul on Lebron, and sometimes when Lebron commited the foul, they were somehow "surprised" that Lebron commited a foul.  There was one play where it was a clear travel and they just went off to say how great Lebron is.

Marv Albert is tremendous. Actually knows the players and the game.
Don't know too much of the others- don't like Fratello, Breen, Stockton(just a smooth voice, seems totally out of touch), soooo sick of "Sir Charles".

The Breen/Van Gundy/Jackson crew is as good as it gets nationally. Breen is one of the best play by play guys and really is knowledgeable and interested in the game, unlike other guys like Stockton and my personal least favorite Al Michaels (I hate when ABC breaks him out of the carbon freeze to call a game in which he knows none of the players, none of the plays, and really doesn't appear to know the most primary rules of basketball).

Van Gundy, this season, is on a personal mission to fix the NBA. Every time he announces a game, he points out one of the many obvious, easily fixable problems with the NBA, that Stern chooses to turn a blind eye to.

Dick Stockton is abysmal.  I don't know how he's been doing it this long.  Did anyone hear him in the Atlanta series mention Tony Allen as being a big-time shooter lol?  I mean I thought he got confused and mixed him with Ray Allen but he even mentioned how Tony comes off the bench.

Any less games with him will be great.  He just doesn't seem to get it.

Van Gundy, Breen & Jackson are great- Van Gundy's hysterical- remember when he said "Boston and Detroit should just play the best of 21"
