Yankees suck chants are embarasssing for everyone who is a Red Sox fan.

At a Celtics game it is beyond idiotic for a lack of a better word.

"Cleveland sucks" is one thing. "Yankees suck" is very 1999.

I'm a Sox fan.  All the people that chant Yankees suck are Red Sox fans.  It's not embarrassing in my eyes because there is no longer an inferiority complex.  We have been the best team since 2004.  Cleveland sucks is cool too, Detroit sucks, Canadiens suck, whatever.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

chanting yankees suck for no reason at other sporting venue is the essence of pink hats.

I've been a sox fan my whole life, and there's nothing that screams "bandwagoners with no sense of what the team is about" then yankees suck chants at other sporting venues.

the yankee's suck chant is reserved for yankees games at fenway. do it any other time and you look like a fool.

"he's stern's nephew!" (when lebron gets a horrible call in his favor)

"overrated" (chanted at lebron in the closing minutes of game 5 as we win the series)

Well seeing as how important we all now know our home court advantage is after round 1, we need to think of clever chants for the games, here are a few I've thought of, any ideas?

-knowing that LBJ chews his nails on the bench...either "LeBron looks ner-vous" or "James looks ner-vous"

-"you're not Jor-dan"

-"Pierce is bet-ter"

-and of course a carry over from Round 1 "take out Cas-sell"

how bout we just chant "lets go celtics" and win the series?

The bibby chants were funny, and were provoked. All these chants feel forced and quite bandwagoney. (word?)

Well the pink hat "bandwagoner" era has been the most successful for the Sox since the early 1900's, so more power to them.

I know this thread is for LeBron chants but I'm talking about the Sox because as I said before I think we just ignore LeBron, don't need to get him angry.

Uhmmm... how exactly is it the "essence" of pinkhat fans?  Considering the pinkhat era generally took off after the world series wins, and those chants have been going for years...

I love it.  To me, a Boston expatriate, it is part of what defines Boston sports fans:  We all hate NY teams.  Even if they suck, even if our team is better, we don't like 'em.  I think it's because they are the only fans more obnoxious than us, personally.

I think most of these are just here to be funny.  I mean, it's pretty hard to get a chant with 9 syllables going anyways.

a yankees suck chant at the garden during a playoff game is completely lame!

any predetermined chants for the lebron series sounds too forced.  stick with "lets go celtics".  if anything comes up later in the series, such as a bibby-esque incident, then get creative.

we'll have to agree to disagree. to me, chanting yankees sucks at other venues shows that the people chanting it just chant it because its hip to be sox fans.

And ive been a fan since i was 6 years old, and no, it didn't go on at patriot games, celtic games, and bruins games the way it does now. That started AFTER the WS wins when millions of people who didn't give a [dang] started jumping on.

Before that the chant was mostly a drunken milling around boston thing or a fenway thing.

For the record I'm not a big fan of the Yankees Suck chant.  It's way over played, and, well, they don't suck!  I was trying to point out something to razz the Cleveland fans actually.  Getting on their case for having their superstar dude loving the Yankees...

I've been a die hard Boston everything fan my entire cognizant life, but I don't have a huge problem with the "pink hat" syndrome.
Yup

I'm going with "Let's Go Celtics." Let's not rile LeBrat up.

This reminds me of Danny Ainge's advice about how he tried to guard Andrew Toney - just not try to stir him up and hope he gets bored.

(And, Doc - play Posey and to a lesser degree Tony Allen as much as you can without disrupting our offensive chemistry.)
