LeBron is one of the biggest whiners in the NBA, but he's not over-rated. He still keeps checking that "boo-boo" on his elbow from over a week ago ... maybe he's running out of Big Bird Band-Aids! That said, he's the second-best player on any basketball court, right behind, (ugh!), Kobe Bryant. I think if we could find a way to keep him from biting his nails, he'd be so tense that he wouldn't be able to hold a basketball!

The Cavs, for all the moves they've made, remain a one-man show.  They're Team LeBron, and nothing more.

this reminds of what Marc jackson said about the Cs game today: "it's time to put the kids to bed"

it's big boy time, now....

pretty condescending, but funny none-the-less. (Hawks deserve a lot of credit)...i wish every game that we don't get to have tommy and Mike for we could get Jackson, Van Gundy and Breen....by far the best national commentating team. i also like Dunleavy a lot too.

as for the Cavs, the one guy i worry about a little is Ilgauskas. we don't really have a good matchup for him.

I think the cavs biggest strength in addition to Lebron is their rebounding.  Fortunately, the Hawks series made the Celts really focus on crashing the boards and clearing up rebounds.  If they can keep their focus on this next series, it should be no trouble, especially if they lock down on Lebron the way they tried to contain Joe Johnson

Only thing I'm worried about is if Wally and Delonte pull a Mark Blount and Ricky Davis and go off for a ton of points.  I'll be especially p---ed if Wally has a good series, that guy was junk while he was here, at least Delonte did some good things here.

That's the kind of authority I expect the C's to command in this series. (then again, Neidemeyer got his in  the end didn't he?)

Playoff training camp is over.

I think you're correct, Winsomme (TP) ... LeBron is actually easier to answer than Z. LB's gonna get his points, and there's not much you can do about it, but people forget what a tough match-up Z is for us ... he can really do major damage down low .... I get the feeling Perk's gonna be in foul trouble on a consistent basis, and Leon will be called on once again to do some big-time pimpin'!

there is really no one on the cavaliers who can beat the celtics, aside from lebron. but let's face it, he is a phenomenal player, even for all his whinning. (and he does whine a lot.)

as far as the celtics are concerned, lebron will be the most dangerous when he is allowed to distribute the ball to teammates and bring them into the offense. actually, he is pretty good a making long passes when he is double teamed or when he drives to the bucket. the cavaliers score a fair number of their points this way.

lebron will always get his points, the trick is to make sure he does not help others on his team get their points.

the key is of course celtics defense. if they play great defense, then NO ONE on the cavaliers outside of lebron will be able to score consistently. i think doc should not focus on stopping lebron, but of making him work for his points, make him play defense (not his strong suit) and shutting down the rest of the team.

as for celtics offense, the cavaliers should not be able to stop them consistently. ben wallace is a shadow of his former self. no one else on that team can play consistent defense...which the possible exception of varajao.

celtics in 6, but a tough series because a team with lebron always has the chance to win a game.

Well Lebron is THAT great of a player that he can lead his team to great wins.  But I doubt it'll be against the C's.  Gooden gone hurts them, DWest helps as does wally but we can handle both of them easily.  Might see more of Powe & Brown this series for matchups.  Wonder how Posey is going to do against James?

And in this case, LeBron is Neidermeyer: his own troops (teammates) are going to kill him against the Celtics.

  • The good ole days.
I like the Celtics to put this one away in 5 or 6 (yes, a bold statement after this 1st round series, I know).  I expect them to play the same limiting defense as they did against TMac when they ended the Rockets streak, or against Johnson after he torched the Cs in game 4.

Nobody else on the Cavs scares me.

One other thing... Josh Smith might have been the toughest defender and guard for KG to deal with.  Nobody else in these playoffs can block/alter/bother KG's shot as easily as J-Smooth.... not even Rasheed.  Smith could easily keep up with and elevate with KG when guarding him, and he was too quick for KG to defend on the perimeter.  KG should eat Ben Wallace alive on both sides of the ball.   The more time Joe Smith is given in this series, the better for the Cavs.

The length of the series will depend on how much the refs favor Lebron.  If he's allowed to drive to the hoop and get a foul call each time, the C's will again have a major free throw deficit that will make it difficult to overcome.  Z, West, Wally will be happy recipients of kickouts from LB should the C's resort to double or triple-teaming Lebron's drives to counteract the foul calls.

C's should get this in 5 but I fear another game 7 is in the wind.  NBA wouldn't mind seeing the C's and Lebron around for 7 games of high ratings.  Stern and the refs union would never admit to it but the unbalanced officiating in the Atlanta series was very circumspect.

I really think are lineup should be a bit different. I really would like to see KG or posey on Lebron most of the time. PP is a good defender but in the long run bron is faster and will blow by him. Put Powe on him take some charges. Seriously lebron is a threat and did everything to get to the finals last year.

if you do that, KG has to defend the 3 point line and we dont have any interior defense. no rebound out of KG either.
