Chris Paul deserved it. It's a shame really.

it is isn't it, paul definitely deserves it. I give up my KG 4 MVP campaign after what i've seen this series.

agree on Paul - I went to NO for the c's game, and was very impressed - but this just adds a little insult to tonight's injury, and just like Fisher discrediting Pierce earlier today, this adds fuel to the fire for us

Good, he's the MVP of the league. Right choice.

simple thing called motivation - we get out of this series, we fight through cleveland, beat Detroit or Orlando, and maybe just maybe Kobe is sitting there waiting for us - it gives some extra motivation to get to that point - as much as they say individual awards don't matter to guys, we all know they do - I know you've already given up on the team vinnie, but some of us have faith and can see this is a tool to be utilized for later

Love him or hate him, the guy is the best player in the NBA.

What a joke in my opinion.  This is a guy who insulted his teammates publicly, demanded to be traded when things weren't going his way, and only started winning when Chris "Vin Baker, Kedrick Brown, etc." Wallace decided to hand them a superstar without giving up anyone in their rotation.  I mean the team is almost identical except for Gasol, and prior to his acquisition, Kobe was considered a petulant brat by most of the league.

How did he go from being the most selfish, self-absorbed, pouting spoiled star to the MVP of the league in the same season?  I am biased of course and think KG was the obvious choice by the way he transformed the Celtics, but even Chris Paul would have been a much better choice than Kobe.  This seems to be a lifetime achievement award for being the most talented player in the league, which he has been for a long time, who now is on the #1 seed in the West because a franchise-destroying GM handed his team an All-Star.

Thank God.  Maybe now Laker fans will stop crying about how the NBA and the media hate poor Kobe.

Didn't deserve it. Would have given it to Paul.

As for the "Kobe is the best player never to win MVP argument" I say please. West and Baylor never won it and were better players.

I've said all along that despite having a rooting interest here (KG, of course), this has been one of the best MVP campaigns in quite some time -- certainly added another wonderful subplot to a very entertaining season -- and that there were four candidates who I could certainly live with winning it (LBJ is the fourth) and three who seemed to be just a half-step ahead of everyone else, including LeBron (KG, CP3, Kobe).  I'm standing by that assessment now.  Thought Kobe, KG and CP3 were the three top candidates, but my voting on the order changed on a day-to-day basis -- and again, I could have lived with a 30-8-7 guy winning it as well.

No matter the personal feelings about him, Kobe's had a great season.  Congratulations on an award well deserved.
