Totally different circumstances in terms of relative expectations at the time, but has anyone taken notice of the fact that this series has held pattern to the last time the Celts and Hawks hooked up in the playoffs?

In 1988 the two teams split the first 4 games at home (first in Boston, then in Atlanta), before swapping losses on their home courts in games 5 & 6. Then, of course, we had the epic battle between Bird & Wilkins in Game 7 at The Garden.

I sure hope history doesn't continue to repeat itself (though I may wish to revise that statement if the Celts lose tonight).

  • You know my methods, Watson.
even though he's over 50 now, i'd still put my money on larry if he suited up tonight...if we have a game 7 i'd feel better about things just seeing him sitting on the bench in his 33 jersey.  ;)

I've never had more confidence in an athlete I was rooting for, I'll say that for Larry.  My all-time favorite.

I guess Big Papi & Brady have approached that level, but if I had one guy to choose for a clutch performance it would be Larry.
