amen bass, here's hoping captain pierce shakes off that bad back and puts the hawks out tommrow.

and, honestly nba, its 2:30 est. your office is in NY. either say yea or nay on the suspension issue. This is unfair to both teams, they've already practiced and are probley doing walk throughs. be kind of helpful to know if they'll have all thier guys...

As someone else posted earlier, I think the league will try to determine if Garnett was fully aware it was the ref he was trying to remove from himself or not.

"Any player or coach guilty of intentional physical contact with an official shall automatically be suspended without pay for one game. A fine and/or longer period of suspension will result if circumstances so dictate."  http://www.nba.com/analysis/rules_e.html?nav=ArticleList

It's going to come down to whether the NBA uses a legal definition of "intentional", or a more generally understood one.  In terms of the law, "intentional" generally means somebody meant to take action, not that they intended specific consequences to result.  In other words, if KG meant to put his hands on somebody / push somebody / extricate himself physically from the situation, that's the intentional act.  It doesn't matter whether or not he intended to push a referee, so long as he intended to push somebody.

This probobaly wont play a factor but you never know. With no KG means hawks have a even better chance of beating the celtics in game 5 which also gives them a better chance of beating us in the series. Even if stern wont admit it everybody knows that he wants the celtics in the finals or at least to advance and face lebron. Both of those series would have great tv ratings. Stern has been waiting for that for a while and i dont think he is going to keep waiting. He knows the ratings be a total dissapoinment if hawks adavnce(which they wont)

at what point do we pass a unwritten "nothing going on " deadline with the nba? i ask this in all seriousness, its now approching 330 and still not a peep out of the league office.

If we get past like 5 or 6, is this a closed deal? will they announce suspensions on game day?

anyone know? seems so odd to me to drag this out. Kidd was done very quickly the next day...

I really have looked at that tape closely.Garnett never threw an elbow or pushed any referee. All he did was attempt to separate himself from being held down strongly. He nevetr went after anybody. He was far away from the agressor, Zaza, who challenged him with a head butt. Then he is grabbed out of nowhere by this ref. I don't see him guilty of anything. Nor should Perkins be guilty. Also, I am sure that the Hawks brought this to the league's attention, as they are trying to win anyway they can.

I'd like to know why it's 2:16 EST the day before game 5 and there's still no decision on suspensions??  If the NBA's reasoning is always that they go by the letter of the law, then their should be no room for discussion.  You look at the video, and the decision is made.  Why should it take this long??

Maybe I missed something (very possible), but why is everyone waiting for an official announcement?  Has the NBA stated they are reviewing the incident further?  Is there any reason to think there may be suspensions other than a couple of opinionated ESPN articles?

Have I missed something?

By the way everyone has been talking up until this point, I was preparing myself for the league office to say that Perk and KG would be suspended for game 5.

Here it is, almost 5pm and still nothing.  What's odd is that they haven't even come out and said that there ISN'T a suspension.  For the Haywood and Kidd hard fouls, they announced that there would be no suspension and they did rather quickly.

We have a near brawl last night with the next game tomorrow and still no announcement.

For the Haywood and Kidd hard fouls,

Kidd's was a Flagrant 2.  Doesn't the league HAVE to review that?  What was Haywood's?

I'm just not sure why everyone is EXPECTING an announcement.  Unless I'm missing something, I see no reason to.

Stern said last night on TV that they would be reviewing the altercation.  So to me I would expect them to have at least a press release after they review it with their ruling.  That would at least clear the air as far as this situation goes.

I'm guessing Perk and Williams are suspended if they crossed the line. The league was hardcore on the rule in a more important situation last year, they'll definitely do it again this year. No KG suspension, though. Just a fine in all likelihood.
Go Celtics.

It would be nice if they announced something for all involved. If everything is 'by the rules' why are they having a hard time coming to a decision?
