All I can say is WOW! Listen I am the last person to blame the refs because to be honest the Celtics really did not take that team seriously enough from opening tip off. We acted like the Detroit Pistons.

STILL!!! That officiating crew is the absolute worst crew for the the Celtics to get. I remember telling my friends "oh no Violet is the ref" and what do you know. Any run the Celtics were trying to make instantly got killed by a whistle (The non-existent Rondo offensive foul). The Hawks were allowed man-handle the Celtics players going to the Basket and on the other end it felt like the Hawks were getting all the calls.

The last time the Celtics had this team of officials was during the Jazz blowout. All around the game was just a horrible experience. Tommy wasn't calling anything the 24 second clock didnt work. Atlanta played more music in their arena then at the Roxy. I bet you the Celtics were probably ready to play game 4 right after. I hope Totally insane Kevin Garnett shows up for the next game.. Doc should have gotten himself ejected that night. I know I shouldn't just blame the officials but this team is awful they completly ruin the flow of the game they make all the wrong calls, and they are never consistent. The true test for the Celtics in this first round will be to win a game that Violet Palmer officiates.

Violet Palmer was a nightmare. That call on Ray was nonsensical. The man was directly under the basket. Loads of bad calls by Violet. She must hate the Celtics. We just have to play harder next game.

Quit blaming Violet Palmer and drink more green coffee, Celtics fans.

Change your routine. I am used to getting shafted by the refs for the past 40 years and I am sure that I will get screwed by them for 46 more.

She's the worst!!! It always seems the Celtics lose when she referees.  :(

I didnt' think she did a bad job.

Considering their opponent in the next round.  I would suggest that the Celtics get used to playing against both Cleveland and the officials. There's not a pretense of officiating bias when James is on the court.  It's just right out there for everybody to see. So they'd better play a whole lot better than they did last night.

Violet Palmer is the worst ref in the league (now that Donaghy is gone)  but I don't think it is so much that she favors one team over another but that she just makes so many horrible calls on both sides it really messes up the flow of the game.  He had a few of those last night on both sides, but overall, she did a better job than usual in last night's game.

this may be the first time i have ever posted about referring in a game. i agree that it was poor, even by nba standards. palmer made calls i would never, ever expect to see called during the playoffs. the offensive call on allen was a total mystery. the offensive call on rondo was odd.

she had some pretty bad calls on the hawks as well. but she did disrupt the flow of the celtics offense at a crucial juncture.

yet, palmer or not, the celtics are the better team and they let the hawks win one by not playing their normal defense.

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Violet Palmer is a ghastly official - but that doesn't change the fact that we didn't do what we had to do to win.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

maybe it was the curse of scal?  we were doing just fine during the playoffs, until the redheaded one decided to screw things up and sit on the bench last night ;)

No facts allowed in this thread!

Including the fact that Rondo hit Bibby in the chest with a forearm after hitting him a second earlier.

What are the odds that the people complaining about the refs watched the local broadcast, not the national?

I complained and I watched the TNT broadcast. Officials should never be noticed, but everytime Violet calls a game it feels like this:
