Wow I am probably the biggest Belinelli supporter (I posted a thread 6 months before he was drafted saying he was a top 5 talent in this draft and that the Celtics should draft him which of course ended up in people flaming me) but this is WAY to high for him and is by FAR the worst pick in the entire 3 rounds. There are at least 30 players avaliable who are hands down better options, and you could have waited til either the 4th or 5th rounds to select Belinelli and he still would have been there. Horrible value in the pick imo.

Coming from the guy who traded his 3,4 and 6 for a player out for the year and could have gotten with any of those picks.

LOL Ditto on that one. You should be the last one making comments Elton!

I have no idea what any individual poster here would have done, but I can say that I've participated in five fantasy drafts this year (including two keeper leagues) and in none of them did Brand go before the 100th pick.

Then you must have been drafting with a bunch of....(I can't fill in the blank or else someone will get mad).

I think their theory was more along the lines of, these fantasy leagues are with our online colleagues, who we have no real attachment to.  The chances of everybody being fully committed to a keeper league next year aren't all that high, so it makes sense to win in the here-and-now, rather than waiting until next year.

I mean, you gave up three high draft picks for somebody who won't help at all this year (but will help a lot next year).  Some people are just less patient.

What is the point of doing a keeper league that people aren't committed too? I expect most if not all people in this league to be committed throughout, and if not, we should easily be able to find replacements for the few if any people who drop out.

First off a 6th round draft pick is not a high draft pick. And do you see the people going off the board right now in the 3rd/4th round? I would MUCH rather have a healthy Brand who has been very durable throughout his entire career over any 2 or 3 of them.

In a keeper league as well as this season I would much rather have a 22 year old 6-10 NBA player with no signifgant injury history than a 28 year old, super high mileage undersized power forward who just suffered a ruptured achillies tendon in a pickup basketball team.

Undersized guys typically peak early as well as leave early at the power forward position, as well as the fact that outside of Jason Kidd, I can't think of one guy older than 25 that has ever made a full recovery from serious leg surgery. And on top of that, Brand completely tore his achillies tendon. That exponentially more serious than microfracture surgery because to repair it they'll need to significantly shorten his a-tendon.

There is no reason to think that Brand can't have some more productive years, but you're no longer looking at an MVP candidate.

I never said I wouldn't rather have Big Al than Brand, I said Brand will be a better fantasy player next year when healthy than Big Al would be.

Brand has been very consistant throughout his years putting up 20/10/2 blocks a game  as well as very durable with very good percentages. People normally come back from achillies injuries just fine, I am not worried. In fact there is word that Brand could come back as soon as January as achillies tendon's sometimes only take 4-6 months to recover from.

i guess the brand pick just adds some drama for later in the league...

personally i think it is a pick that will come back as a mistake.  looking over who was taken after him and what players could have gone instead of him, i think CD's team is weaker then it needs to be.  but who knows, if he comes back fully healthy, without losing a step then CD will be happy.

WalkerWiggle isnt on the clock till 2, so it could be a while

While my team might not win it all this year (keep in mind I still have 2 first round talent's in Wade/Anthony, but will be lacking a little depth) my team is def the favorite as of now to win it all next year.

Tell me one person that was drafted after Brand that after this year you would rather have for the next 3-4 years aside from possibly Boozer?

johnson, deng, maybe redd...probably more given the fear of the injury.  he may come back healthy, or he may come back as a shell of himself.  that fear would make me move a few other guys in front of him.

Just letting everyone know that I am leaving this league.

I have my reasons (as I have told a few other GMs)

Should give you time to find a replacement.

Has nothing to do with my players or draft location.  I had a strategy that is still in play.

Sorry to leave you now.

Hope the rest of you have fun.

Not many people come back as a shell of himself after an achillies injury. None of those guys are even close to Brand's level. Brand averaged 47 fantasy points a game last year. None of those others averaged even over 40.

Wow I can't see any of those players putting up close to 40-45 fantasy points per game aside from Rashard Lewis/Gerald Wallace, both of who aren't going to drastically improve.

No but I can't name any prime of their careers athletes whos achillies injury ruined their career either. I believe most people make a close to, if not full recovery after an achillies injury.

that may be the case...but deng and johnson are young and improving.  and it is improbable to think that brand will average the same amount as he did before injury.  so it is likely that those players will get better, while he will go down.  it is a keeper league remember.  but whatever, as i said numerous times, it was your strategy and it might end up working out great for you.  I thought it was a reach based on who was on the board.  its a good thing if fantasy owners dont all agree.
