We lost this game on the glass. Out rebounded by 10.

The center rotation definitely was uninspiring today. Expected much more.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

EDIT: Nevermind - back on the Fire Joe Train!

Wasted PG's best effort of the season.

Queta needs to start.  He earned it, Robinson hasn't.

My primary concern coming into this season is that we're asking too much of JT coming off of an achilles injury.  Traditionally the players who recover well from that injury are jumpshooters who can adapt their game around the loss of athleticism.  Durant is the obvious example there.  But Tatum was never the purest of shooters.  He's streaky and his mechanics can break down for significant stretches at a time.  Pre-injury he could compensate for a cold stretch from outside by attacking the basket.  Post-injury I wonder what he does.

Man what a terrible loss... I was very hopeful after the first half.

Coaching issue to allow a 23-0 run? Already said it for few years, replace the coach.

Also how the Celtics lost to the Knicks and 76ers last two years- blown double digit leads. Shooting themselves on the foot

Mitchell Robinson is missing the Knicks ring ceremony.

This was a disappointing loss, but this is frankly somewhat expected.

Last season I predicted that the team would start slow, but then get better as guys started to adjust to new roles.  That's exactly what happened.

This season I predicted the same, and I have no reason to expect it to go differently.  We replaced the longest tenured player on our roster and one of our highest usage guys.  I expect it will take the team 10-15 games to build chemistry, for everybody to get used to playing together, for Mazulla to work out his rotations and gameplans, etc.

We were also playing a team that finished with the #1 seed last season and has a full year of chemistry under their belt, so they already have everyone in sync.

I only really had one question mark about this roster, and that was the question of how much Paul George still has left to offer on the offensive end.  He answered that question today quite emphatically.

Id love for him to add a little muscle and develop a go to move in the post other than a tough fall away. Hes insanely long and quick. He needs one more aspect to his game when the jumpshooting isnt there

Just realized that Conley was a healthy scratch. I don?t get that signing. Celtics have plenty of guards/ball handlers.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

watched on delay.  today's hot takes:
- PG probably had his best game of the season.  I'm sure he'll have other really good games but I would not be surprised at the end of the season when we look back at how he's played and see this was his best game.
- Tatum had one of his worst games shooting and in general impact.  sure, lots of assists but at no point did it feel like he was going to lead the team to victory doing the tough/little things to win.  we'll see some other stinkers this season like we always do but for the first game of the year to play this badly says something.
- White shot better than last season but felt like a real non-factor.
- PP was not looking like a projected second option in this game.
- The center rotation was underwhelming
- The young guns didn't step up to provide any spark or output.
- Joe coaching yet another game with his head up his butt.  blew another 20+ point lead.  couldn't bother to call a timeout to slow Det down as they stormed back in the third quarter.  absolute dumbass.

it's only 1 game but I'm wondering if this team will right the ship by next game or will we see a similar lackluster effort in the next one.  No more JB to blame for team losses.  curious who the haters are going to select as the new whipping boy to blame.

Seen it since 2023, there is still one whipping boy to blame and it's Joe Mazz.

We got rid of 2/3rd of the issue (Marcus Smart, Jaylen Brown)...now we need to get rid of the final issue (Joe), and this one is supposed to be the biggest issue of the 3.

A look at the box score for the 2nd half tells you all you need to know - a failure to make shots on JT's part, and a failure to defend for him, White, Hugo and Hauser. Javonte and then Robinson lit them up and took advantage of some very ordinary perimeter defense. There was a failure in execution in the 2nd half, that's basically what it is.

This game shows why Tatum will never be a true leader, an alpha male of this team. His sidekicks are more often better than him.

Lol. Bro. It was a single game. I guess we're discounting his entire 9 year career for the first game of the season? He had a terrible game, but let's not blow things out of proportion and be overly reactionary.

On a side note - I always find it humorous when adults use terms like "alpha male", "beta", and the like.

Where is the overreact thread? Haven't seen that for months.
