Full schedule gets released on Thursday but Opening Week & Christmas Day just dropped

Opening Night: 10/20: Celtics @ Detroit in a 3pm start (yes, 3pm on a Tuesday)

Home Opener: 10/23: Knicks @ Celtics 7pm

Christmas Day: 12/25: Heat @ Celtics 2:30pm

So Celtics avoid banner raising in NY and no PHI/BOS on XMas

First thought when seeing the Celtics 3:00PM start?

There goes Adam Silver trying too hard again. He's starting to annoy me!

I figured they?d maximize the narratives and leave the Philly/Boston matchup off opening week and Christmas. Will be interesting to see how long they go in the season before they have it.

Is this the first time they?ve had three games on opening day? Says alot about how they?re perceiving the season to go by how much East representation there is on opening day and opening week, as well as how much Boston is featured. Not a bet on us taking a step back this year.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

EDIT: Nevermind - back on the Fire Joe Train!

I think its NBC trying to squeeze the most out of its NBA contract and make opening night more of a thing.

The weekday 3pm start is wild, though.

Yeah that's what I meant. Just feels like trying a little too hard.

Surprised we got XMas.

I'm not.  Only thing that surprised me a bit was playing MIA and it being home.  Figured Celtics would play the Sixers or Knicks.

Do they not want people to be able watch the Celts/Pistons game? Why not start the first game at 5:30pm, second at 7:30pm and the last one at 9:30pm. There would only be a slight overlap between games. Looks like I?m using a sick day on 10/20.  :P

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

If its network, then the answer is most likely local news.
