What's our starting five for next season?

Do we start Robinson over Neemias? Does Baylor have a shot of starting over Pritchard (I really like PP off the bench)? And do we start PG when he most likely won't play more than 50 games? These are the questions I ponder when I should be working.

Queta will start.  I can't imagine that he loses his spot.

Queta over M Robinson = M-Rob can't play long minutes. He can barely play 15-20mpg without gassed.

Pritchard to the bench = At the start of the off-season, I expected Pritchard to regain his starting spot once Stevens added a ball-handler in free agency. Stevens failed to do that. Conley is not good enough. He is just an end of bencher "break glass in case of emergency" 3rd string PG. So we have no ball-handlers off the bench.

When faced with this situation in the 2nd half of last season (after the trade of A Simons), Mazzula chose to bring Pritchard off the bench rather than start Pritchard and take D White or Pritch off after 5min or so and bring them back in late Q1 in the 2nd unit. So given this was Mazzula's preference last season, I expect it to be the same next season.

Baylor vs J Walsh / Hugo = J Walsh and Hugo will be get the nod if either one of them can prove to be a reliable 3 point shooter. If they cannot, I expect Baylor to get the nod. Right now, Baylor is the front-runner.

Hauser to resume his bench role.

I might start Robinson because Hack-a-Mitch is less effective at the beginning of quarters.  I find Robinson and Queta relatively interchangeable, however, so I am not sure it matters too much, and Queta earned his job up until the 76ers series.

The starting lineup of White-Pritchard-Brown-Queta-Random Wing was very effective last year, so one would figure that White-Pritchard-Tatum-Queta-George (as Random Wing) would be at least effective, so that is what I expect.  However, I think it would be best if Hugo were able to win a starting spot in camp so that Pritchard can make the bench more effective.

D-White, Hugo, PG13, JT, and Neemias...  If Hugo doesn't work after a dozen games switch to Baylor.  I want to see how our young guns react to starting with the big boys.

I am assuming that Queta is the starter over Clank Robinson.  That particular decision does not make all that much difference in my mind.  Queta will have to close unless Robinson figures out how to shoot Free Throws.

As to the Guard/Wing, I would like to see Pritchard off the bench.  It seems that he plays best and the team does the best in that role.  Hauser is the incumbent starter at this point.  He started the most regular season games of the random wings (49) and started 6 of 7 playoff games.  I see it as his job to lose, but he may well lose it.  The only random wing who played better than Hauser last season was Walsh, and that was only for a very short period of time.

So I see Hauser as the most likely 5th starter but it could easily be Walsh or Hugo or Scheierman, and it likely will be like last season where is changes over time.  I doubt there is one starter all season like the other starters, more who from this group will start the mst games, and I am guessing Hauser.

This is what I figure - at least what Brad would like to see.   Enough offense that Hugo doesn't have to carry much of a load initially.

bring PP, Baylor, Hauser off the bench for offense, Mitchell for D.   Not sure who else could eat up minutes at PF behind Tatum while we're waiting for Cenac to develop.

I would prefer to have Robinson start. Keeps Queta out of early foul trouble, but also in a way it could benefit the team because if the opposition does "hack a Robinson" early in the quarter (or multiple quarters) then the C's can get into the bonus fairly early which benefits them.

My guess is though, Queta will start.

Starters: White-Hugo-George-Tatum-Queta
Bench: Pritchard-Robinson-Baylor-Hauser-Conley-Garza-Harper

I'm high on Harper but Hauser is still here so I expect Harper will still remain like the 11th or 12th guy on the team. Of course, injuries can open things up for him. I think Baylor and Hugo could alternate the starting role depending on "hot hand" and such
