Great. Bring on the Sixers. They have loads of talent for the next 1-2 years. That?s fine but it?s a failure if they don?t win it all.  I still think they aren?t going far if Embiid isn?t healthy. And salaries for Maxey, Edge, and JB are going to be astronomical in a few years.

And lest we forget, LBJ turns 42 in December. He?s been amazing but could break down at any moment.

Philly should package Edgecombe together with Embiid to trade off of Embiid's injured butt. Get a new star player. Jaylen, Maxey, new star as their future. LeBron as their 4th option for the present tense. Play for a Championship.

I don't see Philly having any substantial chance at winning a title with Embiid on the team. He is too injury prone. He plays half a season if you are lucky. Even if he is healthy-ish heading into the playoffs, he can't stay healthy for a whole playoff run.

There was some statistic. I can't remember exactly what it was. It was something like Embiid has not played 6-8 games in a row since 2023 or 2022. You think this guy can make it through 4 playoff series? I don't.

As long as they depend on Embiid, their title chances are next to zero.

Philly aren't that dangerous - even if healthy.

Embiid can be contained one-on-one if you have quality defensive centers. LeBron ain't great off ball. Jaylen ain't great off ball. Both are fine but nothing special. Maxey is an on-ball player too. Edgecombe is an on-ball player. They can't all have the ball at the same time.

I would be quite happy defending those guys 1 on 1 and living with the results. Embiid, Jaylen, LeBron. Edgecombe. Maxey is the most dangerous one-on-one because of his speed. The offense can't revolve around him with all those other scorers though. His teammates will dampen his talents more than opposition defenses will.

Embiid isn't as efficient as he was 3-4 years ago. You have a big bodied defensive center, you can live with the results of his one-on-one game. LeBron relies more and more on slower bully ball moves. He has to slow the offense down and have it revolve around him. That is fine. That means the other guys aren't involved.

This is more a series of big names than a good basketball fit.

DK finally updated Philly's win O/U.  Moved up to 50.5.  So a whopping two game increase from pre-Lebron signing.  Celtics holding steady at 51.5.

I'd love to see them bring one of those guys off the bench preferably LeBron or Jaylen. Edgecombe is also an option. Put in a lower usage 3+D player in that starting lineup instead.

Embiid would also be interesting off the bench but his ego couldn't take it. Put in a younger rim roller big man. They signed Hukporti from NYK and have Adem Bona. Play run and gun basketball around your 3 real stars - Maxey, Jaylen, Edgecombe. LeBron can fit into that style of ball as more of a glue guy. Stop Embiid from wrecking their transition game, defensive quickness, clogging their offense.

Lots of super teams have been put together over the years.

Sometimes it works out, a lot of times it doesn?t.

Will Brown, LeBron and Embiid consistently run the floor hard?

Do you really want to be in the Jaylen Brown, or Giannis business the next five years in the range of $70mm per year, Brown ages 33,34 and 35, Giannis ages 35, 36 and 37?

Tatum will be entering his age 30 season in two years when PG13 comes off his big contract and either enters the Al Horford program or gets traded as an expiring.

Every trade Brad has made since he got here was very solid. Did he all of a sudden become a moron or is he just playing three dimesnsoonal chess?

I?ll trust Brad and just say it looks like it?s time to ?continue? sticking it to the 76ers!!

Let?s Go Celtics!!! Let?s Go Celtics!!!

Brad's seat is getting hotter by the day, especially after this breaking news of LeBron to Philly.

Should have went all in on Giannis...if holding back Hugo and Baylor were his reasons, that should be a fireable offense.

Hugo and Baylor better be all-world NBA players next season otherwise it would be disappointing.
giannis is not worth adding those two players to the previously rumored price they offered. Too much risk of injury. Too much risk of age decline. No savings in salary. I strongly glycol suggest it will not go well long term in Miami. I think similarity in Philly. Are all those stars going to be happy at 12 to 15 points a game?  There us just not enough shots for really 7 solid players. Alot of talent, but also a lot of potential discord.

They'll load manage both him and LeBron.

As long as both are playing playoff games spread out 1-3 day gaps, it should be fine. There are no b2b games in the playoffs. And with this talent, they should easily sweep the first rounds and likely bury whoever is in the second round. It's the ECF they'll have to be concerned about; most likely, the Knicks.

Nick Nurse all of a sudden has/will looked like a genius. Wish we had a coach like him. Was even begging for him too after Udoka got canned, sigh

Apparently, BOS/Stevens was OK to be in the Giannis business (at a trade price) but not the Brown business.

I don't fault PHI for doing what they are doing.  They have an Embiid window, a very fragile, often injured star player window.  What are their options?  Try to trade Embiid?  What is that going to get them?  Tank (don't play Embiid)?  They are putting the best possible team around Embiid that they can, maybe for one last run.  They are going to be paying him 3 more seasons.  Brown, Maxey, and Edgecombe too, maybe longer if they start giving out extensions.  About $195M for just those 4 players by the 2028/29 season.

They will be trying to catch very expensive lightning in a bottle these next 3 seasons, like the Celtics did in 1984 with Walton.  Hoping that they can keep Embiid healthy for a playoff run.  To me, it will be interesting to see how good the team is without him.  LeBron, Brown, Maxey, Edgecombe is a decent team, lacks size (rebounding and defense), but that is still 4 pretty solid players.  GSW never had any real talented bigs.

I wonder who would say no to Embiid for AD

crazy talent but one of the worst basketball fits especially when you consider the stage of everyone's respective career. i'm going to say poor JB. good chance he under-performs and gets blamed when things don't go well. and given how he takes criticism, he'll probably make the situation worse.

Agreed. JB is going to be the whipping boy. No matter whose fault it is, JB is the one who is going to get blamed for it.

Without Embiid

G: Maxey, L Philon
G: Edgecombe, A Simons
F: Jaylen,
F: LeBron, Dean Wade
C: Hukporti, A Bona

Others: Justin Edwards, D Barlow, T Watford, Dalen Terry, J Broome, Jabari Walker. I think they got Caleb Love & Rayan Rupert as well on two-ways.

4 guards. Only 2 legit forwards. A combo big in Dean Wade masquerading as a forward. A pair of below average backup centers. 8-9 rotation caliber players there. A bunch of 3rd string forwards to below average bench forwards. D Barlow or T Watford can be rotation worthy but not much room for them with LeBron & Dean Wade ahead of them.

I think that team can win 50 games without Embiid.

I do think the Cs starters match up well with the Sixers starters

PP---Edgecomb
White----Maxey
PG---JB...PG had JB in jail in the playoffs
JT----LJ
Robinson---Embiid

I am concerned about the lack of scoring off the bench. If Hauser does not make 3s he is useless. Hugo plays hard but still can't hit the outside shot consistently. Walsh will defend but can't shoot. Baylor really needs to tke another step.

I'd love to add a vet shooter off the bench or trade Sam for someone that can impact winning.

PP<Edgecombe
White<Maxey
PG<JB
JT>LJ
Robinson<<<Embiid

I don?t see how they matchup well If both teams are healthy.

I like the forward matchups and the center matchups. JT and PG13 can defend their guys straight up. M Robinson & Queta can defend Embiid straight up. No need for double teams. I can live with their offense in contested one-on-ones while not needing to double team. That is fine.

The backcourt is a problem though. Edgecombe and Maxey are too quick. Too explosive athletically. They can cause our guards many issues. A Simons off the bench could be a problem too. Too much ball-handling, too much quickness, too much outside shooting.

This makes me disrespect Lebron even more than I ever did before as well. A player of his caliber signing on to the best possible team for the minimum is really weak. He should have at least pursued something like the NTMLE from a team. This is just ring chasing at its finest and it throws off the competitive balance of the league.

Ah, 42 years old. I don't care if he ring chases at 42 years old. This is like Karl Malone joining the Lakers for 1 year. That team didn't work. This Philly team won't work either.
