Brad has built a better team in Philly than he has in Boston.

JT--coming off a serious injury
PP--ready to start or will Joe even allow this?
White--Lost all of his shooting in a matter of a year
Robinson--good as long as he can stay healthy
PG--lucky to get 50 games out of him

Bench of unknowns and very young in Hugo and Baylor. Walsh is meh. Hauser is a one trick pony. Queta a good number two.

Just do not see how this Boston team is anything more than a 6 , 7 or 8 seed in the East.

The nice thing is that we will be able to see who is right come April.  Boston will have a better seeding than Philly at the minimum.  Playoffs will likely depending some matchups for both teams, and the rest of the East too, as there is likely no dominant team out there.  (Kudos to the Knicks if they pull off a great playoff run twice in a row tho.)

Just think the regular season is going to be a real slog for the Celtics resulting in just getting into playoffs.

Celtics are comfortably a playoff team barring injuries.

Tier 1
Knicks
Sixers

Tier 2
Pistons
Cavs
Heat
Pacers
Celtics
Raptors

Tier 3
Hawks
Hornets
Magic
Wizards

Tier 4
Nets
Bulls
Bucks

That's a lot of competition within the top 8 spots.

I think this is about right, though it?s realistically probably more Tier 1A and Tier 1B. Don?t think the Knicks or Sixers are much if any better than the rest of the East.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Imagine someone telling you in April that Jaylen Brown and LeBron James would be teammates next season, and not in Boston or LA.

crazy talent but one of the worst basketball fits especially when you consider the stage of everyone's respective career. i'm going to say poor JB. good chance he under-performs and gets blamed when things don't go well. and given how he takes criticism, he'll probably make the situation worse.

I do think the Cs starters match up well with the Sixers starters

PP---Edgecomb
White----Maxey
PG---JB...PG had JB in jail in the playoffs
JT----LJ
Robinson---Embiid

I am concerned about the lack of scoring off the bench. If Hauser does not make 3s he is useless. Hugo plays hard but still can't hit the outside shot consistently. Walsh will defend but can't shoot. Baylor really needs to tke another step.

I'd love to add a vet shooter off the bench or trade Sam for someone that can impact winning.

PP<Edgecombe
White<Maxey
PG<JB
JT>LJ
Robinson<<<Embiid

I don?t see how they matchup well If both teams are healthy.

do you envision Adam Silver changes the playoffs to a series of one-on-one games, though? because let's put Maxey in White's role... is he better then? because if he plays typical Maxey role, one of JB, Embiid or Lebron have to play more of a PG, Robinson or Tatum role. are any of them better at those roles? i'm not so sure.

Brad's seat is getting hotter by the day, especially after this breaking news of LeBron to Philly.

Should have went all in on Giannis...if holding back Hugo and Baylor were his reasons, that should be a fireable offense.

Hugo and Baylor better be all-world NBA players next season otherwise it would be disappointing.

LeBron James is a point forward. He can easily average 8apg. He had a season in LA where he averaged 10apg. Your role comparison does not make sense. They are two completely different teams. LeBron will run the offense.

I am not expecting "fit" to be an issue, unless they aren't winning.  And then it is a chicken or egg thing.  If they are loosing, everyone will be saying "bad fit".  It they are winning, you won't hear anything about fit.

I think part of the reason he picked PHI is that they don't need to do any other trades.  They don't need to bring in Anthony Davis or Kyrie Irving which would be the case for CLE for example.  This is a good team just as they are.  Injuries or durability is an issue.  But even without Embiid, this is now a playoff team.

I don't know how they can Nurse Embiid along to get him through a playoff run without wearing down (yes, pun intended).  My guess is he hardly plays in the regular season.  No 65 games for him, that is for sure.

Will be interesting to see how the league schedules these Sixers-Celtics games now.

Meanwhile I expect it to be a better team than the one that had won 2/3 of its games before Tatum returned.  It could be a little tougher because some of the other teams at the bottom will have improved/have less incentive to tank, so there will be fewer off nights where you can do whatever you want against teams like Washington, but:

Tatum > Brown
George > rotating 5th starter
Robinson > Garza
Young guys with more experience > Young guys with less experience.

Sure, George could miss 30 games, but that just means we go back to the rotating 5th starter from last year, and not something lower than last year.

Sure, Robinson could miss 30 games, but again, that just reverts to Garza, and not anything worse than last year.

Tatum missing a lot of time would be how the Celtics find their floor instead of ceiling, especially if coupled with George missing a lot of time too.  Or injuries to White and Pritchard at the same time, but those possibilities are things that could have happened regardless of the trade, and we?re not going to be fixed if we had kept JB.

Celtics are still better.

I admire the optimism and do think the Cs could finish above the Sixers in the regular season and that the Cs are better than last years regular season team.

However, the Cs team is in my opinion worse than last years playoff team as that team had JT except for game 7 and that is what really matters. Similarly the Sixers if healthy come playoff time are better I believe. Or even if one of their guys are injured.

agree that Bron will be the primary facilitator on offense.  as far as the head to head matchups, Philly clearly has the better player in 4 of the 5 matchups.  the only one that could be argued in the C's favor is the JT - Bron matchup.  In a vacuum, Tatum is and should be the better player of the two however head to head Bron still gets star treatment on a level that Tatum has never nor will ever experience.  Bron will get away with a lot while defening Tatum who everyone knows isn't exactly Mr Drive-for-a-Foul --> too much love for pounding the ball outside the 3-point line only to take a step-back ISO 3.  not a lot of D required for the defender.

They had a deferential Tatum who wasn't quite himself and finding his way back physically & mentally.

I expect a different Tatum this season.

My initial thought was too many cooks in the kitchen, but the more I think about it, it's a pretty good fit for final stage LeBron. His passing and decision making next to all those attackers allowing him to serve a major role without having to break people down.

The real problem with Philly is team defense. Embiid so slow when he's not 100%.

If LeBron went full-on Wilt Chamberlain mode circa 1967-68 he could lead the league in assists per game (or "assists per minute" if he's load managed).
