Just do not see how this Boston team is anything more than a 6 , 7 or 8 seed in the East.

The nice thing is that we will be able to see who is right come April.  Boston will have a better seeding than Philly at the minimum.  Playoffs will likely depend upon some matchups for both teams, and the rest of the East too, as there is likely no dominant team out there.  (Kudos to the Knicks if they pull off a great playoff run twice in a row tho.)

Yes 6ers have a ton of offensive options but Maxey and Edgecomve are both below avg defenders. Bron hasn't played defense last 7 years. Embiid come post season forgets what defense is or how his feet work.

This reminds me of the Lakers super team with Malone and Gary Payton. That team looked really scary on paper but did not mesh well in real life. This Philly version is much younger but I?d like to see how they play as a team. Embiid, Lebron, and JB all have huge egos. This is going to be interesting.

They made it to the finals and were heavily favored.  I can't remember if the cause of that was injuries or ego (or maybe Detroit was just a better TEAM from the top down).  I actually wouldn't be too worried about Lebron if I were a Philly fan.  He's smart and I think he knows where he is in his career and really doesn't have anything left to prove.  Shaq and Kobe were both pretty stubborn and polar opposites.  Brown/Maxey and to some extent Edgecombe will be interesting to see how they figure it out.  Embiid is a wild card.  I just don't expect him to be healthy.

I am concerned about the lack of scoring off the bench. If Hauser does not make 3s he is useless. Hugo plays hard but still can't hit the outside shot consistently. Walsh will defend but can't shoot. Baylor really needs to tke another step.

I'd love to add a vet shooter off the bench or trade Sam for someone that can impact winning.

Hard not to look at the Jaylen trade and think Brad probably built a superteam in Philly. We'll see if they gel, but you can't deny that team is loaded and Lebron is not going there if Jaylen isn't on the Sixers. Shams has said this too.

Are we pretending Jaylen plays really good defense now? Maybe he can lock in here and there on his man, but his off-ball defense has always been terrible.

Either way, this really sucks. Lebron should have chosen Cleveland, as they still would have been really good, and would have been way less pressure on him if they lose. Cherry picking the Sixers on the minimum could really come back to bite him and I am hoping and praying that's what happens

Meanwhile I expect it to be a better team than the one that had won 2/3 of its games before Tatum returned.  It could be a little tougher because some of the other teams at the bottom will have improved/have less incentive to tank, so there will be fewer off nights where you can do whatever you want against teams like Washington, but:

Tatum > Brown
George > rotating 5th starter
Robinson > Garza
Young guys with more experience > Young guys with less experience.

Sure, George could miss 30 games, but that just means we go back to the rotating 5th starter from last year, and not something lower than last year.

Tatum missing a lot of time would be how the Celtics find their floor instead of ceiling, especially if coupled with George missing a lot of time too.  Or injuries to White and Pritchard at the same time, but those possibilities are things that could have happened regardless of the trade, and we?re not going to be fixed if we had kept JB.

Yeah, this is where I?m at. I just don?t see how Philly makes any sense for him. Either he wins the chip and is branded as a ring chaser who took less money to be carried to a championship, or they lose and underperform and are dog walked for it with as much talent as they have. And it?s not like fit was better here than elsewhere, and at least with Cleveland/Miami they?re homecomings, with GS even having the Steph connection. Just doesn?t make sense to me.
