It is one of the most disappointing to go from Giannis as a target to George. But for me it?s very much not one of the worst. This team is still really good and has a lot of potential. There were some years after KG and Pierce era that had very little hope. No one really expected the Nets picks to turn out like they did. Then there was last year where the future looked very murky. This year I think the future still looks better than last year based on the offseason we had. There would be quite a few I would put ahead of this as the worst but it was definitely disappointing

How have we brightened our future prospects, do you think?

It is one of the most disappointing to go from Giannis as a target to George.

That is another reason why I am not as bothered by this off-season. I did not want Giannis here. I don't like watching him. I am worried about his injury issues. I definitely preferred Jaylen to Giannis. I was relieved when the Giannis deal fell apart. That was good news for me.

I have been wondering about Giannis vs PG13 & 2 picks

... I don't know. I really do not like Giannis. Even though PG13 vs Giannis is an inferior team, at least it is a more likeable team (for me!).

The picks we got and Tatum showed he still is a superstar in this league. To me that is a big reason why this offseason I think makes the future look much brighter than last years offseason.

And as for the statement of this team having a lot of potential. I think that comes from those picks but also a young guy like Hugo and the fact that they still have Tatum.

Definitely disappointing because I think we should have got more for Brown but I do still think this team has a lot of potential and I feel a lot better than I did a year ago.

To put it in more accurate perspective it's:

Giannis - 2 1st round picks, - Hugo and/or Baylor vs PG13 + 1.5 1st round picks, + two 2nd round picks (which could be between 31-40)

Is this up there for you? What was the worst for you?

The 2008 offseason will always be the worst to me. As reigning champions, Danny netted us a bust in Patrick O'Bryant in free agency and drafted one of his worst ever picks in J.R. Giddens. All this while letting Posey walk. And his in-season deals weren't much better in 08-09 (shipping off Sam Cassel, acquiring Mikki Moore and a washed up Marbury).

I'm thing when Reggie Lewis died or Len Bias died.

I'm glad JB is gone.  If I never see him try to dribble thru 3 defenders again my life will be nearly complete.

... and the absolutely worst decision that off-season, treating KG's bone spur with rest instead of removing it initially.

It will definitely be much more satisfying, watching Paul George on the sidelines in a suit, right?

Honest question: Is there an amount of games that Paul George can play this season that will make you at all satisfied, either in total or relative to Jaylen?

I was just reflecting on what a disaster the Pitino / Wallace years were.  Some highlights:

1998:  Traded Chauncey Billups for Kenny Anderson

1999:  Trade a lottery pick (Andre Miller, Shawn Marion) for Vitaly Potapenko

1999:  Trade Ron Mercer for Danny Fortson and a #1; subsequently squander the #1

2001:  Decline to "roll over" Denver #1 to 2002 draft (with another rollover available after that)

* 2001: Kedrick Brown over Troy Murphy, Richard Jefferson or Zach Randolph

* 2001:  Joe Forte over Tony Parker, Jamaal Tinsley or Gilbert Arenas

* 2002 deadline: trade Joe Johnson + #1 for Tony Delk + Rodney Rogers

* 2002 off-season:  Decline to resign Rogers over $1 million.  Trade Kenny Anderson for alcoholic Vin Baker to save money

Yeah,  I was gonna put summer '97 there. Obviously, you had the '97 lottery/draft but you also had the renouncing of both Fox & Wesley, the ridiculous Travis Knight overpay, the Eric Williams & Chris Mills trades, the Dino Radja debacle, locking up Tony Massenberg and Andrew DeClerq.  Just one disaster after another and that spilled into the '97-98 season with even more ridiculousness (Billups/Dee Brown trade).

What an awful trip down memory lane.

It really is.  Those were dark times.  The era started with such hope.  Landing Pitino was a coup, we felt guaranteed to get Tim Duncan (even though our odds were less than 50/50), we had pulled off a great trade by landing Antoine and a lottery pick for Eric Montross and Samalki Walker, etc.  It was the most enthusiastic the fan base had been in years, followed by a sustained run of terrible decisions.

Thankfully, even in that darkness we landed Paul Pierce at #10, which was a gigantic stroke of good luck.
