So you locked up the starting and backup center to what it would have cost for 1 year if we extended JB

Great deal for both sides.  Queta has MADE IT after all that hard work, and the Celtics get to lock down a key player for an additional four years.

Salary structure is likely:

2027-2028: $12.5 million
2028-2029: $13.5 million
2029-2030: $14.5 million
2030-2031: $15.5 million

Probably about $3 million less than the MLE for next year.

Wow.

IN a league where Kessler gets 32 million a year, this is an awesome contract.

That's 48 minutes a night of high level rebounding, screening, rim running, and rim protection for about 27m a year.

Plus, we still have Garza, who is a very productive, if flawed, big as our third stringer. Plus we have a couple upside developmental bigs on the roster after that.

Will be interesting to see how they structure it.

Could be a flat 14 per year for 4 years.

Could go 12.5/13.5/14.5/15.5, starting at 12.5 with 8% raises.

Not sure what they'd prefer.

Yeah, I came to say this. Spotrac has the MLE starting at $15.8M, so even better. If Queta has a similar season to last year, I can't imagine he wouldn't have gotten at least the MLE on the FA market next offseason with centers all of a sudden at a major premium.

I know some people were hoping for $10M-12M/yr, but this is really solid. Queta is very good center and he's durable, too. Something that can't be said about a lot of bigs out there.

With this extension and the guaranteed extension, if PP signs it, we see why they moved Brown.  It would be hard to have these contracts and extend Brown for 70m a year.  While I don't think any of use disagreed that JB needed to be moved because of this it's the lack of return that is upsetting everyone.

That's a great deal when you consider what other bigs have gotten this offseason. It's less than Robinson, but also it's way less than someone like Kessler who got 4/130M.

At 4/56M, he'll look like a bargain especially if he keeps his upward projections and becomes a consistent 14/10+ kind of big.

33M a year combined for Queta, Robinson and Garza is good business, and you hope Amari Williams and Cenac can continue their development along the way. Yes, they have flaws, but the idea is to get 40-45 minutes combined from Queta/Robinson and then 5 minutes-ish from Garza most games. You don't necessarily need Queta or Robinson to each play more than 28 minutes or heavy minutes most games.

Hopefully he learns to play playoff defense.  He was our biggest disappointment against the 76ers.

Also the foul trouble issues.

White was the biggest disappointment though overall that series. Queta to me was 2nd

Solid deal. Very trade-able contract in the future as well.
