We could fit him for the minimum, or even the biannual exception.

Why would he want to come here?

Highly unlikely.  That said, he is reportedly willing to sign for the minimum.  After the JB-Bronny-LeBron thing from summer league a couple years ago, I think LeBron would be more likely to sign with JB traded than he would if Brown were still here.

But still not happening.  It is almost certainly going to be Golden State, Cleveland, or Miami.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if the reason Stevens needed to trade Brown immediately was because Lebron said he would definitely come here if Brown was gone? Then all of this would make a lot more sense. PG and Lebron are bros, right? At the very least they're not not bros.

He said he hates Boston. Called it a racist city.

So no. LeFlop will not come here.

I don't think it would happen, but let's just say the Celtics sent Sam Hauser to the Lakers.

What is the max amount that James could sign for and be traded back to the Cs into our TPE?

Is it like 20m?

Not unless he signs for the minimum, which even then for a player like him would be over $3m, which is the max we can add to our roster before we exceed the tax line of $200m. Assuming that the team wants to reset the luxury tax rate this season, which would be much easier to do than next season. Presumably they reduced their payroll last season to try and reset the tax rate, so it would be odd for them to leave the task half done.

Assuming they were willing to exceed the tax line and pay 575% in tax next season vs 300%, we are hard capped at the first apron which is $209m, because we used the non-taxpayer MLE to sign Mitchell Robinson. Given our payroll is $197m, and we've used our MLE, then the only way we could sign him is to absorb him into the Simons TPE, but we can only offer him $12m as we are hard capped.
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

I believe we are prohibited from receiving a player in a sign and trade when we are already hard capped at the first apron, which will occur when Mitchell Robinson puts pen to paper on his deal which we used the non-taxpayer MLE for.

We could absorb LeBum into the TPE, but being  hardcapped the most we could offer him with our current roster as it is would be $12m.

Less than that.  But the real issue with a sign-and-trade is the Lakers have used up their cap room and renounced his Bird rights, so it cannot work from their end.

EDIT: I should be more precise.  What you proposed will not work, because the Lakers have no cap space.  Technically we could trade Hauser elsewhere, and then give the Lakers something to S&T LeBron before they make all the other moves.  But S&T deals also have to be for at last three years, which is another commitment I do not see either side making.

Gotchya.

I lean on you with this stuff. Thanks.

If we traded Hauser, what is the max contract we could take back as we currently sit? I know some numbers are still slightly fluid, but ballpark?

If you are not concerned about the tax, about $18 million, after waiving Banton and signing Cenac to his rookie deal.

Why in god's name would you want Lebron in Boston?

The man is 42 years old, plays no defence, makes everything about him and creates a media circus everywhere he goes, and will try to throw his weight around to force the team to bend to his will.

I wouldn't want Lebron on the C's even if you could get him to come off the bench fro the vet min.
