The guy gave us everything we could have asked for since being drafted.  Without him we don't hang Banner 18.  You'll be missed.

I need a new favorite.  Very sad to see him go.

Agreed.  He was the guy everyone blamed and took a lottttt over the years with trades and people complaining about him. He put up with it for a while and brought a championship to the Cs. He should get a very big standing ovation no matter what comes out next!

The guy who won us the 2024 championship is gone. He is truly the leader of the Cs and keep improving year after year. His latest arsenal, the midrange jumper, is beautifull and lethal. I'm confident he will keep improving his game, but this time with the Sixers. You will be missed, Jaylen.

Some of the criticism was reasonable, but I never understood the outright bashing and hate JB received over the years.  Truly a bunch of fans that took what he did for us for granted.  Even after helping us win banner 18 as both the ECF and Finals MVP.

That Philly uniform ain't going to look right on him.  Sadly he will find no reprieve from sports related hate, which is what Philly is known for.  He doesn't deserve that.  I also don't see him as an optimal fit with their current personnel.

Thank you for everything, JB.  This fan will never forget the dedication and success you brought to the C's.

JB helped Boston get another banner, so I will always be thankful for that. I was convinced he was getting moved, was just hoping it was to a team out west. What a disaster.

Thank you JB! What a way to end an era. It?s a crazy world where there was constant noise from the media that JT and JB could not coexist and needed to be broken up. Well, they got what they wanted. Somewhere along the road maybe JB comes back to end his career here. Who knows. I don?t see Philly or any team giving him a max contract once his current one expires. Brad did him well with that contract.

Have not told my kiddo yet.  She is only barely over Marcus Smart, and has JB plastered over her walls.  She will take it very hard.

Thank you, JB, for being something we could bond over.

Since 1980, here's the list of homegrown wing players that have won NBA Finals MVP - i.e. they won finals MVP on the same team they were drafted by.

Kawhi Leonard
LeBron James (after returning to Cleveland)
Kobe Bryant
Paul Pierce
Dwayne Wade
Michael Jordan
Joe Dumars
James Worthy
Larry Bird

Jaylen Brown.

That is why I never took the JB and JT era for granted.  Watching them develop over the years into stars, and the finally breaking through to win it all, was one of the most enjoyable parts of being a C's fan.  It is difficult to draft and develop a star, much less into one that helps secure a championship.  Ask all of the other fans and teams around the league about that.

Off the top of my head, favorite things about the past two decades or so:

1) 2008 - banner 17
2) 2024 - banner 18
3) Years of watching JB and JT develop into elite players
4) Isaiah Thomas' "King in the 4th" season

Jaylen Brown's statement after being traded from the Boston Celtics to the Philadelphia 76ers:

First and foremost, thank you to the Most High, even in the midst of adversity. I'm here with gratitude.

I?m still processing how this all went down. I?m excited and disappointed at the same time. I earned my respect from this city. I never asked for shortcuts or special treatment. I simply showed up every day, put my head down, and accepted every challenge.

The relationships I built here, the battles we fought together, the championship we brought to this city, and the connection I shared with the fans, I?ll carry on with me.

Saying goodbye isn?t easy when you?ve invested your heart into something.

I?m big on respect and actions speak louder than words. To the people of Boston, thank you. To the community I built here I love you, and to the shiftaz we are locked in for life⚡️

As one chapter closes, another begins.

I?m excited for what?s ahead and grateful for the opportunity to join Philadelphia. Every city has its own identity, its own passion, and its own expectation. I respect that, and I?m looking forward to earning that respect the only way I know how.. through the work.

Philly - throw the ball up let?s get it

I will miss Jaylen Brown as a Celtic and I wish him well (except when it is PHI vs. BOS of course).  I don't buy the analytics, there is some truth in them, but in no way do I take that as the whole story.  Brown is a very good player and put his heart and sole on the floor every game.  This team is not better today than it was at this time yesterday.  A very good player is leaving the room.

Funny, but I thought about the Nomar trade and the potential similarities.  All we can do as fans is move on and hope for the best.

I think there's a good chance his jersey goes up in the rafters, he gave us 10 years in which we made the playoffs every year and won a title.
