@Celtics2021 - After this trade, and with the Robinson signing, can we still use the TPE?

Is it possible that Stevens will use the TPE to take on Murphy for the picks he just got?

How does the cap work for this? Is there a certain order?

Can't. No young players not enough picks.  If George is somehow healthy for the playoffs, it might be possible that Boston is better this season though given George is bigger, a better shooter, better off the ball, and less turnover prone.  But I just don't see him as likely to be healthy.

Ugh latest report is the 2028 1st might turn into a swap.   Celtics better have another move lined up or I have no idea what they are doing.  Last summer I think they probably could have gotten George and the 3rd pick for Brown, which I proposed and was basically laughed at by most of this board.  Oh what a difference a season makes.

There?s just got to be something else.
Yup

Stuck with a 36 year old Paul George for TWO full seasons.

Swap/first round picks are pointless.

This was all to get George off the books before Brown.

This team is going to suck next season. Just terrible.

PG will be hurt immediately. This team is older and much worse

This is turd sandwich.

I really don?t understand going with Philly in our own conference, though. Really questioning that decision.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

EDIT: Nevermind - back on the Fire Joe Train!

Did we save any $$$?

Not over the next two seasons.

George makes about 3-4 million less than Brown per year the next couple years

NBA world is definitely laughing at us right now.

Any time you can trade your homegrown star for a washed up drug user in his age 36 and 37 seasons you've got to do it.

Even better.  PG gets a raise.

Boston Celtics after trading Jaylen Brown for Paul George and two first-round picks.

Salary cap situation relatively unchanged. George also has a trade bonus that increases his $54.1 million salary to $57.7 million max.

They have a surplus of 8 first-round picks and 7 seconds.

I can?t be the only one who thought this was a hoax.

Celtics get:

🏀Favorable of Clippers/Sixers first-round pick in 2028
🏀Sixers first-round pick in 2031 when none of their stars are currently under contract for.

It isn't a haul of four first-round picks, but they got two potentially very valuable ones to reset the table with.

Why reset the table in a few years when they have two top 10-12 players in their prime? Now they waste a few years of Tatum to be a more middling team and then hope for a good pick and hope there is a good young player. This franchise isn't championship driven anymore. Chism should have never bought the [dang] team if he can't afford to put a contender out there when you have a top 5 player on your roster.

So did he bang Chisholm's wife?  That's the only reason I can come up with for doing a trade like this.
