Why does Boston need to trade JB now?

Doesn't really make sense to.

Not really a fan ... just because of the injuries.

But I like the player. He is one of the better backup centers in the league. Gives us a two-headed center rotation with Queta. That is good.

Also got to love weakening your main rival in the conference.

Very interesting to see what the final structure of the contract is. Is it fully guaranteed? Is their partial guarantees on the 2nd or 3rd year?

Not loving spending that kind of money on a center with zero offense who can?t make free throws.
It's not exactly a buyer's market for bigs. They may have had to overpay a little bit. But he fills a huge need.

Healthy Mitchell Robinson was our kryptonite.  Would much rather have him on the team than not.  Key word is healthy, but he absolutely elevates our ceiling.

Finally, some noise.

We got our Embiid stopper, KAT neutralizer, and bodies to throw at Wemby, Chet, and Hartenstein.

By most advanced metric Mitchell was one of the defensive centers in the NBA last year. He's a huge addition, IF HE CAN STAY HEALTHY.

The ability to throw great defensive big men like Queta/Mitchell on the court for a full 48 minutes is huge.

I think the Celtics should hire a hypnotist to work with Mitchell and his FT shooting.

Espn guys act like he is unhappy here. Im not sure that's true but if he is, we are better off trading him before it gets ugly.  But if he is happy enough, I'd rather keep him. Either way, Im not sure we are good enough to win a championship.

Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

I get the impression that Jaylen asked for a trade but didn't want to announce it.

Simple, Money.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Mitchell Robinson will go into the Celtics mid-level exception.

They are now hard capped to the first apron.

It can't be structured as a sign and trade since he received an option in the third year.

Can someone please explain this for dumb people

I am not sure it really matters.  Whether BOS uses the MLE or the Simons TPE in a S&T, BOS would end up hard capped at the first apron.  If you are over the first apron, you can only use the taxpayer MLE and you are not allowed to use a TPE from a prior season.  So using either triggers the hard cap.

I think that if NYK does a sign and trade, that would hard cap them at the 1st apron also.  But him just signing with BOS, there is no resulting restrictions on NYK.  I do not know what the comment about the option in his 3rd season is about, but I don't think it really matters (that goes too deep for me).  NYK was not going to sign and trade him in any case and hard cap themselves, IMO.

I really hate terrible FT shooters. Cant use their other skills at the end of games. But, his other skills are no doubt a need so it?s a plus signing.  Only 28.

Get yourself up to 60% man.

I like it a lot, he was a real big part of the Knicks Run.  I also like that this signals that we are keeping JB!!! That makes me very happy.
