Kawhi is 35 years old and the Clippers got that haul?  Obviously we don't know how good those draft picks would be.

But who here would have been happy with that same return for Jaylen Brown who is six years younger?

Wow that's a package for old man Kawhi.

I would be ok getting back Brandon Ingram. He went second, one above Jaylen Brown in the same class.

Yeah, that is crazy. Toronto overpaid hugely.

I am fine with the B Ingram & G Dick part but the 2 first round picks is ridiculous. The pick swap probably won't matter because LAC will probably be a worse team than TOR for the next few years.

Toronto was the 5 seed last season. I think they take a leap with Kawhi back esp when he's healthy

Kawhi should've stayed in Toronto after 2019...could've been a few more rings.

G: Quickley, J Shead
G: RJ Barrett, Ja'Kobe Walter
F: Kawhi Leonard, Allen Graves (1st round pick)
F: Scottie Barnes, Collin Murray Boyles
C: J Poeltl, Trayce Jackson-Davis

It sounds like they won't be able to retain Mamu. That they do not have the cap room below the luxury tax or 2nd apron or whatever it is that they are trying to avoid. Word is that Mamu will get offers in the $10mil range which prices Toronto out. They wanted to keep him but his good play last year pushed him out of TOR's price range.

Toronto fans are unhappy with Quickley. They like him when he plays but he has been injured far too often. They think he is unreliable. TOR needs to trade him and find someone more reliable. He could be the cog that undoes their whole machine.

They were the 5 seed, but I think this keeps Toronto in the Top-5 of the East now. At his current age and injury history though, I'd be stunned if this is like 2019. Kawhi's leg/knee issues are chronic and he's no longer reliable health-wise come the springtime.

Ingram is probably negative value. So some of the draft capital is specifically for taking him on.

If its 27 first, 28 swap, 29 first thats not bad especially if protected.

Still have to imagine if Kawhi is worth this despite being 35 and on an expiring where he indicated he was only willing to extend with a select group, SOMEONE has to be willing to cough up a few more assets for 29 year old Jaylen Brown on a 3 year deal.

I wouldn't expect Ingram to have negative value. I looked up his contract because I thought he accepted a lesser deal. He is on $40mil a year. That is okay for a lower tier star. He only has 2 years left on his contract. So not long.

That should be a solid contract.

Now, expand the trade and send JB to LA for Ingram, Dunn, and a couple of firsts.

I would 100% rather have Jaylen than Kawhi. I'm sorry, but Kawhi has to be the most unreliable star player in the league. You simply don't know if he will play on any given night.

The Raptors luxury tax/apron situation is fluid due to Kawhi Leonard's $7.45 million trade bonus. He will need to waive most of it unless Raptors shed more payroll.

They'd have enough room to fill their final four roster spots with minimum salaries if he waives it all.

A side effect of this is it means Mamu is highly unlikely to return to Toronto, so that is a free agent big that should actually hit the market.
