That would make Pritchard expendable. Allow Brad to try and trade him for a backup big or a backup wing.

I might start Scoot over Jrue to get another creator on the floor alongside Tatum. Tatum is the only real shot-creator in that lineup otherwise. I like a Scoot, Jrue, D White backcourt trio.

Two David Kahn mentions in one day

Paris Basketball is a team you hear about quite often so I looked some more information. How long has David Kahn been there? Is he doing a good job? This is from Kahn's wikipedia page:

On July 12, 2018, Kahn was announced as the president of Paris Basketball in the LNB Pro B. In 2021, Kahn's Paris Basketball team was promoted to the LNB Pro A after gaining the second-best record in the 2020-21 LNB Pro B season behind only Fos Provence Basket.

During the 2023-24 LNB Elite season, under his leadership behind the scenes, Paris Basketball would win both the EuroCup Championship and the LNB Elite Leaders Cup, as well as be the runners-up to the championship-winning AS Monaco Basket in that season's playoffs.

So Kahn has taken Paris from the 2nd division in France to a team that has played in the Euroleague in back-to-back years. They have won the French League, the EuroCup, the French Cup, and the French League Cup.

Kahn hired Tuomas Iisalo who later became the Memphis Grizzlies coach. A coach famed for his innovation and high tempo offenses. He won them the League Cup and Eurocup. Then Kahn hired Tiago Splitter who spent a year in Paris winning the League and French Cup. Leaving for Portland the following season where he did a great job as a head coach taking over from Chauncey Billups. They also made the QF of the Euroleague.

David Kahn has actually done a great job for Paris Basketball since leaving the NBA. They have now finished 2nd, 1st, 2nd in the last 3 seasons in French basketball. From being in the 2nd division when he took over. And 2 of his coaches have made it to the NBA. That is impressive.

The Ja Morant trade is official. As a result of the trade happening today, he will not receive his trade bonus. He carries a $42.2 million cap hit and the Trail Blazers maintain more cap flexibility. They are $27.6 million under the luxury tax line with 11 players rostered.

So Morant would have only his trade kicker if traded after the start of free agency.

So this probably puts a nail in the coffin of JB to Portland. Feel very much like a trade a team does in response to a high asking price for a star. Its a pivot trade.

"We could pay JB 57 million and give the Celtics 4 draft picks + young guys OR pay Morant 40 million and keep our assets." They went with door #2.

JB is a much better player than Morant, but Morant was basically free.

I wonder if there is a way to get Scoot while keeping Brown here because that is something I would be interested in. Maybe something involving picks and other players. Scoot is now buried there with all the guards and guys that need the ball.

Too many mouths to feed if they add JB. Also, Portland no longer has Grants contract for salary filler. Plus, shams said they are out on Brown after this move.
