If JB is sore about being shopped around and ends up returning still, just slap a C on his jersey.  Tatum doesn?t care and JB can feel like the validated leader.

Yup

Wouldn't he see this as a ploy to console him because we tried to trade him?

Despite how either side feels...returning to Boston might be the only option.

Brown's value on the market might dictate him staying in Boston. Both sides get over it and move on.

Maybe, but you know he believes he's the leader and has earned the C.
Yup

Im sure JB believes it. Not sure his teammates do, though. Also seems like it would be a hollow gesture at the point.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Yes, if we know the reason for it, I'm sure he would as well.

hes better than anyone they could realistically trade him for

so yeah  in that case you keep him

once the season starts and they start winning again this will be forgotten

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
If Jaylen is actually upset and it's not just a short-term thing, then we need to trade him. I'm impressed that it's been kept mostly in house so far, but I'm sure the dam will break at some point if he's actually not happy. Brad said he had talked to Jaylen a lot. This probably means Jaylen has talked to Brad, as well. Maybe he is open to a fresh start.

I don't think overpaying him on an extension is a good idea. And making him captain over a clearly better teammate seems disrespectful. Even though Tatum has been the ultimate NBA personality, I'm sure he is over always hearing about FMVP Jaylen Brown.
