Portis has a contract of $14.5M so he would fit in the full MLE which is $15.1M.  In theory, any team with the full MLE available (and there are several) could trade for him without sending anything back.  You may be right that Portis could be off loaded fairly easily.  I am not sure I agree that they could get a first round pick back, but they probably could clear his salary if they wanted to and get a young play back.

Kuzma would be harder to off load ($20.5M).  He does not fit the MLE so someone would need a sizable TPE (which BOS has).  It is true that Kuzma is an expiring contract so MIL could just suck it up for one season, but it does not seem unreasonable that they would look to move his contract as part of a Giannis deal.  They don't really need to but they may be looking to create some cap space to allow some flexibility.

Kuzma would fit the BOS TPE so maybe that is what MIL is pushing for BOS to take on Kuzma.  BOS can't take on Kuzma without sending something back.  They would need to use the TPE to take back Kuzma and that would hard cap them at the first apron.  If they took Kuzma back for Hauser, it would add $11M to BOS cap.  This is workable, but limits their flexibility if they want to stay under the tax.  It also works with Pritchard going back.

One of those youtube shorts. Brief clip. Jeff Teague interviewing Damian Lillard asking him what it was like playing with Giannis. Jeff Teague had played with Giannis too. Sounded like he liked Giannis personally but did not being a PG alongside Giannis (because he dribbled / held the ball too much). Lillard had similar issues.

Lillard was saying Giannis only knows how to play one way - all out. That when they talked, Giannis said you have to let him know when he isn't giving it up / or is doing too much ... when Lillard needs the ball more to do his thing.

-------------------------

One of the things I have wondering about - Moranis often talks about Jaylen and Tatum are too similar. I think Tatum & Giannis are even more similar because they are both point-forwards who want to run the show. I think they will impede one another more than JB and JT did.

Mind you, Jeff Teague played half a season with Giannis when Teague was cooked in his last season.

The Celtics, like Miami, would naturally be asked to add players and future draft compensation to the ultimate trade construction.

Sources say that the Bucks have interest in Boston's prized young Spanish guard Hugo Gonzalez.

So I voted to trade, but it comes with a caveat of keeping Hugo!

Heat Central

Brian Windhorst believes Jaylen Brown will be traded even if the Celtics miss on Giannis and is accepting that reality: ?I believe if the Bucks choose the Miami Heat offer, Jaylen Brown will get traded somewhere else. They are going to move on here?.

From what I understand, Jaylen Brown is accepting this and realizing it?s a chance to turn the page and may be getting his own team?

My family is going out for a late Father's Day dinner today (we were occupied yesterday). I can already tell this trade is gonna break in the evening while I'm there and I'll look like a terrible son just looking at and typing on my phone the whole time in panic

I think all sides need a reset. Brown needs to go his own way, Tatum needs to be rid of him. Brad and the Cs need to rethink who they want to be.

What is your projection for Hugo?  Is he even a future starter?  I think probably.  But is he much more than that?  Possibly.  A fringe All-Star?

I like Hugo, I see a ton of ceiling.  I think they can make this deal without giving him up and I would prefer they do.  But I am not sure I would nix the whole deal over him.  You are willing to give up Brown but not willing to give up Hugo?  I get it, I lean that way too, but when you really think about it, I am not sure it makes sense to hold on to Hugo over getting Giannis.

The deal that I am sensing this may be heading towards is:

Brown, Hauser, Hugo, a first
for
Giannis and Portis

I think people are overvaluing Hugo, as if he's VJ Edgecomb already.

Hugo has a loooong way to go before he's considered an above-average starter.
