It's picking up steam again on Twitter. Tonight or tomorrow? Feels like Miami, Milwaukee and a 3rd team that takes on Herro and helps to facilitate (Detroit maybe)

It sounds like the framework could be:

Detroit: Herro
Miami: Giannis
Milwaukee: Ware, Jacquez, Jovic, #13, 1 future FRP from Miami, assets from Detroit

Question is, what Detroit gives up in the deal to acquire Herro. LeVert or Stewart and a first?

I was thinking Ron Holland & a 1st. Plus whatever cap filler.

Miami will have Bam, Giannis, Powell and Wiggins.. Not a great team with no PG or bench..play in team to me
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

I see it as a 50 win team. Not a real contender.

Google's AI says yes absolutely trade Brown for Giannis.
Giannis brings post-inside presence and takes the double team heat off Tatum, who becomes another Paul Pierce.
Stevens knows this, which is why he will pull the string.

That?s a horrible return for Milwaukee considering Giannis is a top 5 player. Role players and a couple of firsts.

If I?m Milwaukee I?d rather get JB and flip him to Houston for Sengun and smith Jr. Can at least build around those two. Rockets are trying to win now with KD.

Houston: Vanvleet, Thompson, Brown, Durant, Adams. That?s a contender

If I'm the Bucks I take Brown and play it out this year. I don't get the rebuild talk just go with

Starters: Rollins, Brown, Kuz, Portis, Turner
Bench: Trent, Green, Porter, Sims

That's very much still a playoff team.

Bob Ryan on the Giannis vs Jaylen trade

(1) No reason to get rid of Jaylen
(2) No reason to trust Giannis' health

He thinks Giannis' best days are behind him. I think so too.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-OfUp5k4hM

Edit: I am listening to the rest of that youtube video / podcast. A 30min video with Bob Ryan, Jeff Goodman & Gary Tanguay.

(1) They start debating whether Tatum & Jaylen have run their course. Whether they are good enough leaders.

(2) Complaining that they do not interact enough on the court. They do not make the game easier for one another often enough. They do not make enough passes to one another that lead to easier baskets. Although I do feel they are underestimating how much they help each other as defenders & rebounders but offensively they have a point.

(3) Saying Jrue & Horford were the leaders of the Championship team and they need veteran leadership because the Jays cannot lead.

(4) Speak glowingly about Brunson. Some on Towns.

I will be shocked if Brown is traded. Brad it going to have to find a different path to add the pieces this team needs.

Build around the Jays WITH Giannis.

No team is going to have 3 max contracts. That really is not an option.

It is interesting that the voting on "to trade (for Giannis) or not to trade" is fairly evenly split.  Everyone is probably making a different assumption on what BOS would have to give up but it would start with Brown in every case.

I have been for Trading Brown for Giannis, I feel Tatum+Giannis > Tatum+Brown.  But that doesn't mean I want to give up Brown + a bunch more .  Maybe Brown plus a first.

This seems to be dragging out because MIL is not getting nearly what they expected.  The question may be shifting some for those that are for trading for Giannis.  The question may have become Brown + how much more are you willing to give up to get Giannis?

Yeah I admit it's not a perfect question per say given the potential parameters, I was more so curious where this forum was at in terms of "look, do you want Giannis here assuming it's Jaylen as the centerpiece going back, yes or no". Obviously if they ask Jaylen + multiple young players + picks, then that would probably sway most people even the ones who want Giannis.

I did clarify this poll was assuming it's that price, not White + Hauser + other assets as I just don't think it's realistic. Possible? Yes. Very unlikely though, as you'd gut your entire bench and in this new CBA, 3 max contracts is difficult. Plus, I'm not sure Jaylen would like being a 3rd option.

The title does kinda imply though, this is a critical point. Do you continue with the Jays, or is it time to try another iteration? It'll be Jaylen/Tatum or Giannis/Tatum going forward in all likelihood.

The think the poll captured the main question.  It comes down to Tatum+Brown or Tatum+Giannis.  In the long run, the incidental pieces won't matter that much, even if they seem to now.  You don't want to overpay in any trade, but when dealing with star players like Brown or Giannis, a draft pick in the 20s sown the road does not end up mattering as much as it seems to at the time.

At this point, I am going to be disappointed if they don't get Giannis.  I would rather they over pay up to a point, than miss out.  What seems like an overpay now, probably won't in the end.

I saw this (probably not terribly reliable but reasonable):

Quote
Milwaukee is reportedly trying to attach Kyle Kuzma and Bobby Portis to any Giannis deal, looking to offload their salaries as part of the package. A lot of balls in the air for the Bucks with the draft just days away.

This could work in BOS favor.  BOS can take on Portis via the TPE but Hauser would need to be sent out.  BOS could take back Kuzma also, but I am not sure both without sending out White or both Hauser and Pritchard, neither of which I see happening.

But I still be be a plus to be able to offer MIL some cost cutting by including Hauser and Portis or even Kuzma.

I don't think MIL should care about including those guys.

* Portis has positive trade value. They can get something good back for him. Probably a 1st round pick. So he doesn't need to be offloaded.

* Kuzma - I thought offloading him was a good idea but he has only 1yr left on his contract. He is an expiring deal anyway. Why bother worrying about him? You are going to take less assets back for Giannis in order to get rid of Kuzma? And whatever you take back for Kuzma is likely an equal or longer term contract. What is the point?

MIL should just move Giannis and not worry about them dudes.
