I'm not convinced it's Giannis or nothing.  I still believe Houston is Lurking....

I've seen this idea around a couple places:

Celtics receive: Amen Thompson, Jabari Smith Jr., Clint Capela and a future first-round pick
Rockets receive: Jaylen Brown

Udoka does love Jaylen. I wouldn't hate that tbh, especially if you can use the MLE to just sign another big man out there (Timelord, KP, Mamu).

Thompson is the prize there but I sneaky love Jabari Smith and his attitude/toughness, it's something this team could use. Also, it would make more sense since the C's typically operate in silence, and the Giannis stuff feels like there's an update every hour which is a bit odd and is probably other teams leaking.

Last year, we would have been laughed out the door with that offer. But with Jaylen's purported rise and with the Rockets flaming out, this is another sell high buy low proposal. People were talking Smith and Sengun or Sengun and Sheppard, but I would gladly taken Amen over anybody on that Rockets roster. And yes, I do understand his shortcomings in shooting the 3

The Rockets in theory would have an awesome Top-4 of FVV-Durant-Jaylen-Sengun with some solid role players still remaining (Adams, Eason, DFS, Sheppard, Tate).

The Giannis stuff feels dead to me. It does seem the Timberwolves and Pelicans are emerging as real trade partners though according to a lot of tweets and reporting today. Jaylen Brown or Derrick White involved, guys like Naz Reid, Randle, Trey Murphy as options in a framework.

I?m not a fan of Randle. Hope Brad steers clear of him.

I just listed him as an option or part of a framework if say it's a 3-team deal. Yeah I'd only be interested in Reid or Murphy III

No way Houston could trade for Brown because of luxury tax. They be paying Brown, Durant, Sengun & Fred Van
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

I expect that when the dust settles, all that will have happened is that Brad uses the first round pick to trade for a cheap role player and calls it an offseason.

BOS could take D Finney Smith back. Maybe S Adams instead of Capela since Adams makes double the salary. That is another $27mil off HOU's cap.

Fred VanVleet is about to expire after next season. He will be retainable on a much reduced contract. 3 big contracts. No other significant contracts. Reed Sheppard at $10mil is the only other double digit contract on their books.

I think alot of this depends on what the Celtics FO thinks of Tatums recovery. Pre injury, Tatum was taking a playmaking step that was fantastic to watch. I know the Knicks bogged us down, but Tatum was picking apart defenses before that like we hadn't seen in his career.

If they think post injury, he can be the primary creator with Giannis as the recipient on high volume...you have to do the trade.

If they think Tatum can't be that, but can be just the best 6'10 connecting player with great shooting, great defense, etc (aka like 2nd half of paul George's career) then you might need to keep Jaylen.

Not to mention, why would they trade Amen Thompson, Jabari Smith Jr., and Clint Capella but keep locker room cancer Durant and huge disappointment Sengun? I mean, just like Embiid returning turned the Sixers from a 7 seed to something better, Durant's newest burner scandal turned the Rockets into something the lowly Lakers could beat.
