Brad should at least help Denver to keep Jokic happy. Last thing we want is Jokic leaving Denver to go to the Lakers to team up with Luka the following offseason now that they got rid of James.

Send Brown over for Murray and Johnson. Denver gets the strongest duo threat in the NBA in Jokic/Brown

I prefer J Murray & Jokic vs Jaylen & Jokic.

Jamal Murray and Jokic have a better two man game. Murray a ball-handler and perimeter shooter. He works great in the PnR with Jokic. They have great chemistry.

I do not think Jaylen and Jokic would have similar chemistry. Jaylen isn't as good of a ball-handler or a perimeter scorer. Jaylen is a much better iso guy. He works better on his own than Murray rather than in tandem with someone as Murray does.

Not sure if this has been posted here yet

Jalen Duren has interest in going to Boston, per Jake Fischer

Actually makes some sense and would financially work in a Brown trade.

KOC pointing out J Duren and D Sabonis have the same agent (Wasserman Group). He thinks the agency is conspiring to push up Duren's price by using their two clients rather than any legitimate talks between DET & SAC.

Thinking about the Jaylen for J Murray swap and how Jaylen would improve their defense.

Assuming no trade and if DEN do manage to keep hold of Peyton Watson, I would move P Watson into the starting lineup at SF over Cam Johnson next year. Put Cam Johnson back in a 6th man role like he had back in Phoenix.

G: J Murray
G: C Braun
F: P Watson, Cam Johnson
F: A Gordon
C: Jokic

Now you have 3 strong athletes & defensive players around J Murray and Jokic. That appears to me to be a better fit than the same unit with Cam Johnson in it instead of Peyton Watson.

Something has to come back with Duran. Pistons would be $36 mill left to match with Brown.

2 small moves

Quote
Shams Charania: Free agent forward Kobe Sanders has agreed to a four-year, $11.2 million deal to return to the Los Angeles Clippers, sources tell ESPN. A second round pick in 2025, Sanders averaged 7.3 points and 19.9 minutes over 68 games as a rookie.

Law Murray: Kobe Sanders: four-year deal, $11.3 million, two guaranteed, two NG per team source

Only 2yrs guaranteed. Cheap deal.

Quote
Shams Charania: Free agent 7-footer Branden Carlson has agreed to a one-year, $2.5 million deal to sign with the Portland Trail Blazers, sources tell ESPN. Portland picks up a big man who has developed in the OKC Thunder system over the last two seasons

I don't know anything about this player.

NY Times on Tobias Harris

Quote
The 33-year-old unrestricted free agent was the Pistons? second-most productive player in the playoffs (behind Cade Cunningham), averaging 18.1 points and 7.2 rebounds.

Yet Harris will be visiting with five teams at the start of free agency, according to a league source who spoke on condition of anonymity to describe ongoing negotiations. (It?s not clear whether the meetings are virtual, phone or in person, or which teams are in play).

At minimum, that means the prospect of Detroit losing Harris is somewhat real.

Haha. I like this. Tim Hardaway Jr.

Quote
Bennett Durando

First conversation I had with Tim last year, I asked him if any part of his reason for signing with Denver was the track record of guys getting paid more after playing with Jokic. "I didn't even think about that until you asked me that question."

There are figures available now on his contract

Quote
Anthony Chiang

Tim Hardaway Jr. agreed to a one-year, $6.5 million contract to join the Heat, a league source confirms. Heat using a portion of its midlevel exception on Hardaway.

Tim Hardaway Jr got $2.3 million this past year for DEN. So he increased his pay 282% by playing with Jokic.

Bones Hyland has agreed to re-sign with the Minnesota Timberwolves in free agency on a one-year minimum.

Hyland appeared in 71 games with the Wolves last season, averaging 8.5 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 16.6 minutes.

Hyland was drafted by Tim Connelly when the Wolves' executive ran the Denver Nuggets.

Adam Aaronson‬: Jake Fischer says on his B/R stream that he expects Quentin Grimes to sign a contract in the range of $10 million annually.

That is closer to a range I would be happier with for Q Grimes. I did not like him at the MLE. I was thinking maybe Payton Pritchard money ($8mil a year).

I don't think Grimes is worth the MLE. I made a thread comparing Grimes and Baylor Scheierman not because I am a fan of Scheierman (I am not - he is middlin') but because I didn't think Grimes was worth the MLE and showing how well Baylor compares to Grimes was to make that point.

Duren in a S&T for Brown is actually hard to pull off financially. Because of base year compensation rules Dduren would count as only half his outgoing salary for salary matching purposes. So lets assume he got a contract starting at 40 million, he's count only 20 million outgoing. But since Brown makes 57 million the Pistons would have to send out at least 46 million to meet salary matching requirements, meaning they need to a at least 26 million more to a Duren offer. BUT aing 26 million more to Duren means the Celtics are actually taking on 66 million (40 for Duren + 26), meaning the C's would be adding 9 million in salary when they only have about 14 below the tax.

Basically there is only a very narrow range of salaries that would both A) Allow Detroit to salary match an B) Keep Boston below the tax.

Its not impossible, but it would be tricky.
