What's the bottom line with Giannis' injury history and current health status ?

I would be interested in trading for him if it turned out more like the Garnett acquisition in 2007 than Porzingis two years ago, though he was an important contributor to the 2024 title. Sounds kinda like we can get him if we decide we want him bad enough. Just don't want to deal with another chronic injury situation with Giannis. Seems he stayed healthy most of his career until the mileage caught up with him these past couple of seasons. That could turn out like the Kemba nightmare and Mazzulla isn't exactly known for being smart about player minute management.  (I do realize KG had the knee injury which prevented a 2009 repeat, but he got us back to the brink the next season until the league office decided they preferred a Lakers title during the 4th quarter of the game 7 finals).

Also, if this deal does not go through, we are going to have an unhappy Jaylen Brown to deal with. Talk about feeling unappreciated.

That could be a very smart move. To be fair, Williams was a contributor and Walsh keeps improving ............ the other two not so much.

Part of me still thinks that staying patient and going all in next summer is the best option. Not near as sexy as a trade for Antetokounmpo right now, but maybe wiser.
I keep bringing up what Red might do. In this case, I could see him going either way if he were still here. He often was patient, but took a few big gambles that paid off huge.
Not been anyone like Red, before or since. Plus, who doesn't appreciate a man who enjoyed a good cigar !!

I mean according to Giannis, he could've played earlier this season for the Bucks but the Bucks out of negligence shut him down. Or so I heard. So say he would've been 80% healthy this year.

And quite frankly for me, Brown is giving me a lot of Kyrie ego. He hangs out with Kyrie too much. Just trade him. Lotta folks say to run it back with JT/JB but it's time for a change. Outside of that one outlier year where we also had Jrue and Porzingis as key factors, the Jays duo had a lot of playoff exits, blown leads, and losing to lower-seeded teams.

Do you mean, he could have been near full strength for 80% of the games or he would be playing at an 80% level of his prime health over the entire season ?
Can't much argue with your thoughts on playoff failures, though I put a lot of that blame on Mazzulla (and Oduka's stagnant offense in '22).

Looking at the draft order, I think the two teams with both the basketball need and cap ability to make a trade for Hauser are the Spurs at 20 and Detroit at 21.  Both teams should have their MLE in the new league year to absorb his salary.  The Hawks at 23 are another possibility, and they have a trade exception they could even use before the draft.  So the question is could the Celtics make that trade for Hauser straight up or also by including 40, and then trade their now two first rounders to get up to Chicago at 15.  The Bulls have new management and already have pick #4, so I can see them being interested in picking up an extra first in this draft.

That guy is a walking bucket.  Not only is he a dead-eye shooter who can get his shot off quick as lightning... but he can really drive to the basket and finish around the rim.

The trade would be completed in the new league year, when Detroit would be able to use either its MLE (since those now double as trade exceptions) or cap space (it will have one or the other, so they could commit to this).

I don't see our pick as relevant in a Giannis trade -- it's what another team would offer for getting JB.  If we had to throw in a first then #27 would likely suffice since a pick 5-6 slots higher is only slightly more valuable and not enough of a difference to kill a deal of that nature

How much does Kessler expect to make? I wouldn't want him to pay him in excess of $30mil per season. As for BOS and Kessler potentially being a TPE target, UTA are already offering more money so that is a non-starter.
