I'd rather have Derrick White than Gafford & PJ Washington.

Celtics

Tatum
Brown

Harper

I think the Celtics would lineup with PJ Washington as our 6th man. A three man forward rotation of Tatum, Jaylen and PJ Washington. I'd rate Queta ahead of Gafford so I'd have Queta start.

G: Pritchard, (free agent)
G: Baylor, J Walsh
F: Jaylen, Hugo
F: Tatum, PJ Washington
C: Queta, D Gafford

I wonder if they could get a better starting SG to play ahead of Baylor. Either in free agency or by trading some of the young wings and picks for a more established plyaer.

------------

Upside to starting PJ Washington is it would make it easier to get minutes for Hugo & J Walsh. Those guys could get squeezed by PJ's arrival if PJ took over 6th man role as main backup forward.

I worry about the lack of ball-handling, passing, shooting with PJ Washington in the starting unit. 1 guard, 3 bulky forwards, 1 paint only center. Not the quickest group. Less dribble penetration.

------------

Free agent market for SGs is not great. Quentin Grimes is available but he did not have a great year for Philly. K Huerter but he is coming off the worst year of his career. Norm Powell and B Mathurin are out of our price range. Luke Kennard played well for LAL but I do not trust him. Thoser are the main SGs in free agency.

Some combo guard types like A Simons, C Sexton. Not ideal. It would make the backcourt very small. Vulnerable defensively.

Looks like it would have to be the trade market.

I feel like if you're dealing White and Hauser, it should at least fill some of the team's biggest needs. PJ Washington is a nice two-way player, but he replicates a lot of what Brown and Tatum do and also would block playing time for Scheierman, Gonzo, and Walsh. He's also not a great shooter, so you've basically got a non-spacing big (Gafford or Queta) next to three wings/forwards who are usually in the mid 30s in 3 pt. percentage.

Gafford is a decent C, but he had a lot of ankle issues last season. Since he's making 18m AAV, he's got to be your starter. He's a decent shot blocker, but can't move very well. I would rather pay Queta when he's up for a new deal, rather than be locked to starting Gafford on his current contract. They should be looking for a C who has different skills than Queta, e.g. someone who can space the floor but hopefully bring other things to the table that Garza can't (size? rim protection? maneuverability?).

I also don't think Pritchard as our starting PG is a permanent solution, so more moves would have to be made. This team would have no ballhandling other than Pritchard.
