Myles Turner: Giannis always late, "shows up whenever he wants"

I just thought of this trade idea and I'm trying to figure out who says no.

Timberwolves get Giannis.
Milwaukee gets Anthony Edwards.

Yes, Ant Man will be only 25 in a few months.  But Giannis almost assuredly (if healthy) get Minnesota to the WCF for the next three years. 

Milwaukee gets a stud who has just entered his prime.  But he's not an MVP-level player.  All-NBA 2nd team sure.  If the Bucks can clear some salary over the next year or two and sign a free agent, get lucky with this year's 1st rounder, they could build something.

Minnesota gets possibly three cracks at a title over the next three years.  They might need to trade Randle for more help at guard, but that's doable.

It works in the NBA trade machine.

No way would I trade Ant for Giannis. I am reluctant to trade Jaylen Brown for Giannis. Nevermind Ant who is several years younger than Jaylen and consistently plays at a higher level than Jaylen.

Ant is on a par with Tatum. Only younger at 25 years old (to 28yo). As you say, a top 10 player in the league already. Minnesota could have 8-10 years of All-NBA play from Ant.

Giannis is too old. Too much of an injury risk.

I love ant, his personality and play.he?s awesome. I would never trade him for Giannis at this point either?but as a player I just don?t see how ant is any better then Jaylen?younger yes but they both just had career years and Jaylens year was slightly better

They were certainly this year. I'd have both of them on the All-NBA 2nd Team this season. I think they'd even be the top two names I put on the 2nd Team. The 6th and 7th best players in the league last season.

PPG = even at 28.7ppg vs 28.8ppg
FG% = Ant 48.9% vs 47.7% Jaylen
3PT% = 39.9% vs 34.7%
3PTA = 8.4 vs 5.7
FTA = even at 7.2 vs 7.5
FT% = even at 79.6% vs 79.5%
TS% = 61.7% vs 57.3%

So Ant has advantages in FG% + large advantage in both 3PT% and 3PT volume which gives him higher overall scoring efficiency.

Defense

Both are above average defensive players. Ant doesn't get enough credit for his D. Jaylen I believe gets too much credit. Great one-on-one defender but middling team defender.

Steals and blocks a middling measurement. Ant has advantages in both despite being smaller. 1.4spg for Ant to 1.0 for Jaylen. 0.8bpg for Ant to 0.4 for Jaylen. Overall stocks 2.2 for Ant to 1.4 for Jaylen.

Edit: I forgot rebounding. Both are good rebounders. Ant gets 5.0rpg which is a strong number for a SG. Jaylen got 6.9rpg this season which is a strong number for a SF. I'd say they are comparable relative to their position.

Passing

Jaylen's improved passing over the last 3 years has evened the gap in playmaking. Jaylen has better stats this season. 5.1apg to 3.7apg for Ant. And a better AST:TOV ratio at 1.42:1.00 to 1.3:1.0 for Ant. If we compare the last 3 seasons of Jaylen vs the last 4 seasons of Ant they come out the same in terms of AST:TOV at 1.5:1.0. And basically the same for assists per game as well with Jaylen at 4.4apg and Ant at 4.5.

Success

Main reason I would put Ant ahead of Jaylen is his success in the post-season. Ant has been the main man for Minnesota and led them to 2 WCF and a WCSF this season.

Jaylen has always been the #2. He has never led a team deep into the postseason. The only season he has led a team was this year and he did a great job in the regular season. He was kinda usurped by Tatum in the postseason by Tatum's return. He has never had a chance to show what he can do in terms of leading a team in the postseason. Nor has he had a team as good as Ant has in Minnesota. This year's Celtics (minus Tatum) were considerably worse.

I would have to see Jaylen lead the team in the playoffs and to real success before I would put him on a par with Ant.

To some degree it is hard on Jaylen because he hasn't had the opportunity that Ant has had. But Ant is proven. He has done it. Jaylen hasn't.

It's not like JB is any better. Going on Streams and pretty much throwing his teammates and front office under the bus. There are videos from last all-star break where JB was on some podcast or something , talking ish about Brad Stevens because of playing Gordon Hayward( a vet  former all-star. Who had a big contract) over him..

Gannis is the better player makes us a title contender.

I mean, he did criticize Joe for going away from what worked all season, sure. I think the majority of us agree with him on that. But what teammate was thrown under the bus?

I guess it's how you view the importance of "finally winning it all."  A lot of people would prefer to just be in the mix, maybe get to the conference finals every now and then over the course of a star player's career.  Heck that could be 12 really fun years.

But others want to win, even if it's at the expense of the future.  Look at what the Raptors did when they traded for Kawhi. 

The T-Wolves aren't going anywhere in the Western Conference in the next five years with the way the Spurs and Thunder look.   

But if they traded for Giannis, and he stayed healthy, they could absolutely vie for a championship in the next 1-3 years.
